The Kooks returning to Prague
The British band is touring with their greatest hits and new songs
The Kooks will perform their most popular songs in Prague on Nov. 11 at Malá sportovní hala in Prague 7. The band also promises to perform some new material that they have been working on.
They supposed to come to Prague on May 26 but the concert was postponed until November. The band management explained that the date was changed for logistical reasons and said that all purchased tickets would be valid for the new date.
The band sent an apology to their Prague fans and thanked them for support. The Kooks also stated that they are looking forward to see everybody on their concert in November. “Can't wait to see you!” they said on Facebook.
This is not the band's first time in Prague. They performed at the first Metronome Festival in 2016, but were not the headline act. Iggy Pop had top billing.
The band announced the Best Of tour in November 2016, and the album Best Of … So Far was released in May 2017. Aside from album hits non-album singles it has two new songs, “Be Who You Are” and “Broken Vow.”
Concerts in the tour have had some variety in the song lists. “She Moves In Her Own Way” and “Naïve” have been played fairly often. “Ooh La,” “Always Where I Need To Be” and “Eddie's Gun” have also turned up in most shows.
The songs may sound a bit different live. “The classic tracks on the album have been left as they are. We chose the songs that we thought defined us the most. … When we play them live, we’re probably gonna do some reworking just for a laugh,” Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard told music magazine NME.
He was reluctant to do a greatest hits album, but has been happy with the result. “The fact that 'Naïve' has been going back into the charts and stuff now has been great. It’s nice to have a bit of a nostalgia trip,” he told NME.
The Kooks formed in Brighton in 2004, and were influenced by the 1960s British Invasion movement and post-punk revival.
The Kooks 2006 debut album Inside In/Inside Out earned some praise. The band won Best UK & Ireland Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006, and entered into the mainstream media attention.
The second album Konk, from 2008, hit number one on the UK Albums Chart and achieved gold status in both the UK and Ireland.
Their sound is often referred to as pop-rock but the band also experimented in indie rock, ska, reggae and funk.
Within the framework of the 2017 tour, The Kooks will visit the USA, Germany, Austria, France, Russia and Italy, and will have a lot of concerts in the UK.
