Thirty Seconds to Mars returning to Prague
The band featuring Jared Leto will have a European tour in 2018
American alternative rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars will play at Prague's Tipsport Arena on April 18, 2018. Tickets for the go on sale Oct. 11 at 9 am for Live Nation club members. General sales to the public start Oct. 13 at 9 am.
The tour will take them to 29 venues in 17 countries between March and May.
The group will be celebrating 20 years since they started in 1998. The lineup currently includes founding members Jared Leto and his brother Shannon Leto, plus Tomo Miličević, who has been with them since 2003. Touring member Stevie Aiello has been with them since 2013, but is not officially part of the band.
The band was last in Prague in 2014, and was also here in 2007, opening for Linkin Park, and again in 2010. They played in Hradec Králové in 2013 as well at the Rock for People festival.
The band will be playing their hits plus their new single “Walk on Water,” which is the first new material since the 2013 album Love, Lust,
The band's output since their 2002 debut album called 30 Seconds to Mars has only been four albums in total. That is because band frontman Jared Leto spends much of his time acting. Aside from appearing as one of the villains in the recent Blade Runner 2049, he has been in over 20 films including Urban Legend (1998), The Thin Red Line (1998), Fight Club (1999), American Psycho (2000), Requiem for a Dream (2000), Alexander (2004), Lord of War (2005), Dallas Buyers Club (2013) and Suicide Squad (2016). He won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in Dallas Buyers Club, where he plated a transgendered woman afflicted with AIDS.
Thirty Seconds to Mars reached success with their second album, A Beautiful Lie, released in 2005. The music was a departure from the first album. The single “The Kill” spent 50 weeks on the US Modern Rock charts. The band won several awards for the album and the singles including Best Rock at the 2007 and at the 2008 MTV Music Awards Europe. The band won for a third time in
The next album, Love, Lust,
The band has also been active in environmental causes and disaster relief.
