Laibach to play Palác Akropolis

The Slovenian band is returning to Prague with a new album

Laibach will be in Prague with some new songs. They will be at Palác Akropolis on Nov. 5 to support their new album Also Sprach Zarathustra and to introduce new members of the band.

Laibach has been to Prague often, most recently in 2012 at Palác Akropolis and in 2014 at Divadlo Archa, introducing their album Spectre.

Also Sprach Zarathustra is the band's ninth album and has 12 songs. The album was released on July 14, 2017.

The music for the album was originally created for a theatrical adaptation of Thus Spoke Zarathustra based on Friedrich Nietzsche’s philosophical novel of the same name. It premiered in March 2016.

Laibach is considered the most successful band to have come out of the former Communist countries Central and Eastern Europe. The band formed in Trbovlje, Yugoslavia (today Slovenia) in 1980. After five years of totalitarian censorship in their homeland, which resulted in a ban on the group's activities across the territory of the former Yugoslavia, they acquired editorial freedom abroad.

The band's big breakthrough came with their third album Opus Dei, which came out in 1987.

The popularity of the band recently rose again after the crowd-funded film Iron Sky used the song “B Mashina” in one of its trailers. The official soundtrack to the film was written by Laibach and released as an album.

Their sound is often referred to as avant-garde rock and industrial but it can also be described as a neoclassical darkwave, electronic, and experimental rock.

Within the framework of the tour, Laibach will visit many countries, including Hungary, Austria, France, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Spain, UK, and Germany.
