The Dead Daisies return to Lucerna

The hard rock supergroup has a new album and new member

The Dead Daisies will be back in Prague at Lucerna Music Bar on July 22. The band has a new studio album called Burn It Down and a new drummer, Deen Castronovo.

The band was last in Prague in June 2017 to support their live cover album, Live & Louder. This new tour will be focused on original material.

“We are announcing a full ‘Burn It Down’ UK & EU Summer Tour which sees us perform a mix of festivals, headline dates as well as shows with The Scorpions, Guns N’ Roses and Joe Satriani! Don't miss out on this epic summer of ROCK,” the band announced on Twitter. They will be the headliners at the Prague show.

The band is made up of members who all have previous experience with big hard rock acts. The current lineup is lead guitarist Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), lead vocalist John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream), bassist Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy), drummer Deen Castronovo (Bad English, Journey) and rhythm guitarist David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink).

Vocalist Corabi says the new album, released April 6, is “the next great step in The Dead Daisies journey” and “a balls-out old school rock record.”

Guitarist Aldrich said it was “raw and in-your-face with a whole new sound.”

The idea of a supergroup, made up of veterans of other groups, isn’t new. Cream and Blind Faith introduced the trend in the late 1960s. Hard rock bands, in particular, seem to embrace the idea, with membership being rather fluid among acts.

The Dead Daisies started in 2013, with David Lowy the only member who has been in every lineup.

The Dead Daisies' self-titled debut studio album came out in 2013, followed by Revolución in 2015 and Make Some Noise in 2016. The live album Live and Louder came out in 2017.

During the Prague show for the Live and Louder tour, Corabi explained that the band loved classic rock, and it was hard to hear many of the songs they played live anymore. And over the years, hard rock has gotten harder, so they tried to add even more energy to them.

Aside from the Live and Louder tour, the band is has been in Prague playing an acoustic set at Hard Rock Cafe in June 2015 and again in July 2016. They opened for Whitesnake at O2 Arena in November 2014 and for Kiss at the same venue in June 2015.
