Maroon 5 coming to Prague

The American pop band is supporting their mew album, Red Pill Blues

American pop band Maroon 5 coming to Prague’s O2 Arena on June 5, 2019. It will be the band’s first time in Prague, so interest is expected to be high.

Tickets go on sale to Live Nation club members starting Aug. 28 at 10 am, and to the general public Aug. 31 at 9 am.

The band will be touring Europe to support their recent album Red Pill Blues. Prague so far is listed as just the third date on the tour, which starts in Aalborg, Denmark, and ends in Paris, France.

During the show, the band is expected to present not only the current album but many of their big hits.

The seven-member band has sold more than 75 million singles and albums and had a 40-stop tour in the US earlier this year.

The group was formed in 1994 as a high school band called Kara's Flowers. They have used the name Maroon 5 since 2001. The album Songs About Jane, released in 2002, had the breakthrough hit “This Love,” followed by another great single, “She Will Be Loved.” The album peaked at Number 6 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

The band also won the Grammy Award in 2005 for Best New Artist, helped by the charisma of frontman Adam Levine.

Maroon 5 then released a string of albums starting in 2007 with It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, followed in 2010 by Hands All Over and Overexposed in 2012. The fifth studio recording, V, came out two years later.

The band has more than a dozen worldwide hits from these albums, such as “Makes Me Wonder,” “Wake Up Call,” “Misery,” “Moves Like Jagger,” “Payphone,” “Animals” and “Sugar.”

Red Pill Blues, their sixth album, came out at the end of last year to mixed reviews, but has several hits including “Don’t Wanna Know,” “Cold,” “What Lovers Do,” “Wait” and “Girls Like You.”

The latter song has over 700 million views on YouTube.

Special guest, Norwegian singer Sigrid, the winner of this year's BBC Music Sound of 2018 award, will open the show. She is known for the hit songs “Don’t Kill My Vibe” and “Strangers.”
