Ed Sheeran coming to Prague’s Letiště Letňany

The British pop star will be using personalized tickets to prevent resales

British pop star Ed Sheeran will play at Prague’s Letiště Letňany on July 7. 2019. Tickets go on sale Sept. 27 at 11 am CET time, and tickets will be linked to individual purchasers to prevent resales by scalpers. Authorized sellers for the show in Prague are TicketPortal, GoOut and Eventim sales networks.

Sheeran was last in Prague in 2015 at a much smaller arena venue on the x (or Multiply) tour. The singer, songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and actor in 2011 independently released an EP called No. 5 Collaborations Project. Since then he has become one of the top-selling artists in the music industry.

His three albums, +, x and ÷, have hit number one in several markets and have been certified platinum multiple times. Altogether he has sold more than 26 million albums and 100 million singles worldwide.

He as also racked up a number of honors and awards. Sheeran was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 Birthday Honours for services to music and charity. He received the award from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.

He has won at least 100 music related awards including three Brit Awards, four Grammy Awards, four Ivor Novello Awards, three MTV Europe Music Awards and two People’s Choice Awards.

According to Forbes, he was the ninth-highest earning celebrity on their 2018 list.

He also had acting roles in Game of Thrones and the series The Bastard Executioner, and a small comical role as himself in Bridget Jones's Baby.

Sheeran’s website and the local organizers warn people not to buy secondhand tickets from other vendors or websites.

People can buy up to four tickets, but they will be personalized to the buyer. All the people on one ticket purchase must show up at the same time.

“In order to put a stop to the secondary ticketing market … the tickets are sold personalized, which means that the name of the ticket purchaser is printed on the tickets. At the time of admission, at least the surname printed on the ticket must correspond with the identity document to be presented, the second (and possibly third and fourth) person only receives access at the same time as the person issuing the identity card. Upon request, proof of booking must also be provided,” an FAQ for the concert states.

“That means: When buying tickets, each of your tickets will be personalized with your name. At the entrance to the show, your (maximum of three) accompaniments will only be shared with you. The promoter reserves the right to check IDs for verification at the entrance to the venues. Please bring a valid ID document and get into the venue together with your friends and family you bought the tickets with,” the FAQ adds. Tickets can be personalized as gifts, as well.

The Facebook page for the event at www.facebook.com/events also tells people to bring the credit or debit card they used to purchase tickets.
