Metallica coming to Letiště Letňany

The hard rock band is returning on a new leg of the WorldWired tour

Metallica is coming back to Prague on Aug. 18, 2019, to Letiště Letňany on the WorldWired tour. Tickets go on sale to Fan Club legacy members at 10 am on Sept. 25 and Fan Club general members an hour later. Live Nation club members can but tickets starting the next day, Sept. 26, at 9 am. The general public can buy tickets starting Sept. 28 at 10 am.

The Prague concert in this open-air leg of the long-running tour is the fourth from the last of the dates announced for 2016. The leg starts in Portugal and ends with two dates in Germany.

A very limited number of Whenever I May Roam Black Tickets will allow people to attend every show on the tour. These tickets are not transferable.

People buying regular tickets through the official store can chose between getting physical and electronic versions of the album Hardwired ... to Self-Destruct and can also download a MP3 of the concert by scanning or entering their ticket barcode. If people already have the album they can have it sent to someone as a gift.

Metallica was in Prague recently in April at O2 Arena for a two-and-a-half hour sold out show, also part of the WorldWired tour, which began in 2016. The setlists for the shows have changed a bit since the start, so likely the upcoming show will not be the same as the previous one.

The songs “Enter Sandman” and “For Whom the Bell Tolls” have been played most often, followed by “One,” “Moth Into Flame,” “Hardwired,” “Master of Puppets” and “Seek and Destroy.”

Several cover tunes have been played a handful of times during the tour, such as songs by the Stooges, Killing Joke, the Misfits and Queen to make each concert unique.

In Prague in April, the band played “Am I Evil” from Diamond Head.

Hardwired to Self-Destruct is the band's 10th studio album. It was released as a double album on November 18, 2016, by their label Blackened Recordings and was their first studio album in eight years following 2008’s Death Magnetic — the band's longest gap between two studio albums.

The album was Metallica's sixth consecutive studio album to debut at number one on the US Billboard 200 and topped the charts in 57 countries.

Critical reception of the album was mostly positive.

Metallica formed in California in 1981. Lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich are original members. Lead guitarist Kirk Hammett joined before the band’s first album in 1983. Bassist Robert Trujillo is the newest member, from 2003.

The band has won nine Grammy Awards, among many other honors.

Special guests at the upcoming Prague show are Ghost and Bokassa. More details about the show will be released later, but past experience shows that there will be no parking in the area, and people will be asked not to bring large items or bags.
