Roxy marks 26th anniversary

The nightclub has four days of events with top visiting and local acts

With all the anniversary events going on, some are getting a bit overlooked. The nightclub Roxy will be celebrating 26 years with four days of events from Oct. 24 to 27 at Roxy and NoD venues.

There will be concerts, parties, exhibitions and theater held under the BE26 banner.

It kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 24, with the British punk rock band Slaves. The band was formed in 2012 and their music has been described as “British punk with harsh bluesy garage riffs.” Their latest album, Acts of Fear and Love, did well in the UK charts. The opening act is fellow UK band Alligators.

Thursday, Oct. 25, will see all four floors of Roxy and NoD presenting 13 projects from the Czech alternative scene under the name of Soundz Czech. The lineup on the four stages includes Zrní, F V T V R E, Branko's Bridge, Space Love, hošty, Pris, Stereofox, atlantik, Market, Møreti, C:/LEANWATER, Voodoo808, and Hyenxxx.

The weekend will be dedicated to legends. On Friday, Oct. 27, techno giant Chris Liebing will be on the main stage. Liebing is a German techno DJ, music producer, radio host and founder of the record label CLR. He is also promoting veganism.

He tours extensively and has been at some of the biggest clubs such as Space and Amnesia in Ibiza, and Fabric in London, and large festivals such as Time Warp.

On Saturday, Oct. 27, the anniversary will end with a Welsh electronic music producer DJ and record producer High Contrast. In 2017, his song “Shotgun Mouthwash” was featured on the T2 Trainspotting soundtrack. He released his latest album, Night Gallery, last October.
