Ariana Grande coming to Prague’s O2 Arena

The singer will be promoting her new albums Sweetener and Thank U, Next

Pop star Ariana Grande is coming to Prague’s O2 Arena on Sept. 8, 2019, as part of her Sweetener World Tour. Tickets go on sale in three waves. BKSTG community members can get tickets on presale starting Dec. 18 at 10 am, sales to Live Nation club members start Dec. 19 at 10 am, and the general public can then get tickets from Dec. 20 at 10 am on the Ticketportal network.

Grande will be promoting here album Sweetener, which was released in August 2018 and hit the top of the charts in the US, UK, Japan, Canada, Australia and Sweden, among other countries. It was ranked as one of the best albums of the year by diverse publications and websites such as Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, NPR and Stereogum. It currently has a pending Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.

The album's lead single “No Tears Left to Cry” debuted at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming her ninth Hot 100 top 10 and sixth to debut in the top 10, tying Grande with Lady Gaga and Rihanna in sixth among acts with the most top 10 debuts on the chart. The single made Grande the first artist in the chart's 60-year history to debut in the top 10 with lead single from each of her first four albums. Two other hits, “God Is a Woman” and “Breathin’” also came from the same album.

Another album called Thank U, Next is set for release sometime in 2019, though no firm date is set. The title track has already been released as a single. It broke the streaming record for the most listens in a single day, and has been named as one of the best songs of the year by several critics.

The 71-date Sweetener World Tour starts in March in Albany, New York, and the Prague date comes near the end. The tour wraps up October in Switzerland.

Grande began her career as a teenager on the Broadway stage in 2008 in the play 13, and then moved to TV for the Nickelodeon television series Victorious and several spinoff projects with her Cat Valentine character. She has also been in films in voice roles and had a cameo in Zoolander 2.

To date, she has four studio albums, one compilation album, one remix album, four EPs, 39 singles including 11 as a featured artist, seven promotional singles and 33 music videos.

Her breakthrough came with the song “The Way” from her 2013 debut studio album Yours Truly. Her next album, My Everything, had even bigger hits with “Problem,” “Break Free” and “Bang Bang.” Her third album, Dangerous Woman, had hits with the title track and “Side By Side.”
