Marilyn Manson to play Prague in November

The hard rock band is set to release a new album in July

Rock band Marilyn Manson has announced a fall European tour that includes a stop in Prague's Tipsport Arena on Nov. 19. Tickets go on sale May 19 at Goout, Ticketpro and Ticketstream.

Marilyn Manson will soon be releasing a new album called Heaven Upside Down, the group's 10th studio album. The album was supposed to have been called Say10 and was scheduled for release on Valentine's Day, but was delayed. Lead singer Marilyn Manson said on May 9 that recording was finally finished, and the abum had been retitled and would come out in July. Manson said previously that it was a departure from the band's ninth studio album The Pale Emperor, and was more violent and less emotional.

The singer told Dazed magazine it would be the last thing people would expect. “Coming from the people who I’ve played it to, it’s a combination of Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals in feeling,” he added.

Recording on the album began in 2015, with some work done in Louisiana, where lead singer Manson was filming scenes for the ongoing TV series Salem.

With the album finally finished, the band has announced a tour to support it. After some already announced summer dates, the newly announced leg of the tour kicks off Nov. 14 in Sweden and hits Denmark and Germany before coming to Prague. It continues into Austria and Italy before heading back north and eventually winding up with five dates in the UK.

Manson was last in Prague in August 2014 as part of his summer tour. The concert had 15 songs including covers of “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” and “Personal Jesus” as well as his own hits like “The Beautiful People” and “Disposable Teens.”

The band first came to Prague in 2001 on the Guns, God and Government tour, and was also back in 2007 for the Rape of the World tour and 2012 for the Hey, Cruel World... tour.

The band was several award nominations but has won only an MTV Video Music Award for Best Cinematography in a Video for “The Dope Show” in 1999 and Lifetime achievement award from Kerrang in 2015, plus some readers' choice awards from Metal Edge.

The band started in 1989 in Florida as Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids, and developed a cult following during the next few years until coming to the attention of Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor, who produced their first album.

The band's musical genre is often called “shock rock” but lead singer Manson doesn't like the term. The band has also been described as industrial, post-industrial, alternative metal, hard rock, glam and goth rock.
