The HABROVKA Festival Turns 15!

HABROVKA festival 2017 - June 2nd and 3rd @ St. Francis church, Prague 4

The popular HABROVKA festival celebrates its 15th birthday with great music, theater and original entertainment. The festival will take place on June 2nd and 3rd, 2017 in the gardens of the St. Francis church in Prague 4 near the Budějovická Metro stop. The Spanish Chotokoeu, Slovak Longital, the Feel the Universe Circus Company and Houpací Koně are just some of the artists scheduled to attend and perform.

This year's theme is "Survivor." You will learn how to survive in the city as well as in nature, in your family or in society with the help of various non-profit organizations and their workshops.

The Spanish band Chotokoeu will headline the festival. The band that is closely tied with the Galicia Spanish culture and which has played at many European festivals will celebrate its ten years on the music scene this year. They'll bring their energetic set of swing, ska and rock with a Balkan influence on Saturday night.

Three nymphs from different European countries from the Korjen will open the festival. The Odd Gifts will follow. It is a project of the Eggnoise founding member Ondřej Galuška. Their first album titled O.G. and the Odd Gifts has received a double nomination for the Just Plain Folks Music Awards. The Migrant Songs record placed among the top 5 records of last year in the Proglas radio poll. Pleasant indie pop sounds overlay a hidden message on the crisis of our personal direction.

The Slovak band Longital will headline the Friday evening performances. The pair of musical globetrotters from the hills below Bratislava who greatly impacted the Slovak alternative music scene added a drummer last year and together they've put together the Divoko album, which was well-received by crticis and the public alike.

The 15th year of the festival will include several other performances – e.g. Yo Soy Indigo band founded in Prague by American singer Emily Thiel or the English globetrotting guitar player Alasdair Bouch with a unique voice. The Czech music scene will be represented by uncompromising and direct indie rockers from Houpací Koně, Hard to Frame that combine drum'n'bass and dubstep with live instruments and the young swing band Mole's Wing Orchestra, as well as Romani Bengas.

The festival audience can look forward to a great theater program as well, which will be dedicated to the circus and acrobatics for the first time this year. Students from the European circus and theater academy – Feel the Universe Circus Company – will perform their grand show titled Sky's Not the Limit as a world premiere!

What does IKEA have in common with war and animals will be revealed in the absurdist musical Refugee Safari, which premiered at a refugee camp in Jordan in 2016. The original slapstick comedy written and performed by Anička a Letadýlko theater about two old cows and a garden gnome is sure to make everyone laugh.

Saturday morning will traditionally be devoted to children's entertainment. The private concert Chytej Ušima (Catch with Your Ears) put together as a puppet journey of a little elf who sets out into the world is prepared for our youngest audience members.

The Loutky Bez Hranic (Theater without Borders) theater company will transport children and adults to Mexico to the Day of the Dead festival where the dead will tell stories and make everyone laugh with their Příběhy malé Lupitiny González (The Stories of Little Lupitina González). An arts and crafts workshop where children can create magnetic puppets will be a part of the performance. A circus workshop led by members of the Feel the Universe Circus Company will take place in the morning.
