The Dead Daisies to play Lucerna

The Dead Daisies @ Lucerna Music Bar Prague, June 29

The Dead Daisies will hit Lucerna Music Bar in Prague on June 29 with their Live & Louder world tour.

The European leg of the Dead Daisies' tour starts June 2 at the Hard Rock Festival in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and closing on July 1 at Freigerich's Rockt Open Air in Germany, making a circle of Europe in between. The band will then fly to Japan, South America and the US to wrap up the tour.

Lead singer John Corabi said recently on a Facebook Live stream that the band plans to go into the studio after the tour to begin recording material for a new album, which will be released in early 2018.

Live & Louder, the record giving name to the current tour came out May 19 this year, and on May 10 in Japan. The album was recorded on tour in 2016 at shows in France, Austria, England and Germany.

According to music site BraveWords, Live & Louder is “quite possibly the best sounding live album, ever.”

“We’re extremely excited and proud of Live & Louder!” Corabi told BraveWords. “A lot of the fans have been writing to us and saying how much they loved our records but were even more blown away by the band live.”

The Dead Daisies features rock heavyweights vocalist John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, the Scream), bassist Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), drummer Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner), and guitarists David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink) and Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio).

The Dead Daisies' self-titled debut studio album came out in 2013, followed by Revolución in 2015 and Make Some Noise in 2016.

The band is has been in Prague before, playing an acoustic set at Hard Rock Cafe in June 2015 and again in July 2016. They opened for Whitesnake at O2 Arena in November 2014 and for Kiss at the same venue in June 2015.

The band was founded in 2012 by Lowy as a musical collective with a rotating formation, which has included other famous musicians such as guitarist Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses, the Psychedelic Furs), drummer John Tempesta (the Cult, Rob Zombie) and vocalist Bernard Fowler (backing vocals for the Rolling Stones), to name a few.

The Dead Daisies follows on a trend of the music industry to gather together rock icons to create music inspired on the '70s and early '80s' rock. Other bands following a similar line include, for instance, Chickentfoot, formed in 2008, featuring vocalist Sammy Hagar (Van Halen, Montrose), bassist Michael Anthony (Van Halen), guitarist Joe Satriani and drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers); and the Winery Dogs, formed by drummer Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Adrenaline Mob), bassist Billy Sheehan (Steve Vai, Mr. Big) and guitarist Richie Kotzen (Poison, Mr. Big).

The supergroup trend itself, though, isn't new as there were bands like Cream and Blind Faith in the late 1960s.

The supporting act for the Dead Daisies concert in Prague will be the up-and-coming, hard-rock female quintet from Stockholm called Thundermother. They have been active since 2012 and inspired in the sound of Australian band AC/DC.
