MUSIC INFINITY: Lusine / US + Sonority / CZ

Lusine is about to bring some sophisticated beats and spikes to Prague

Riding the Mixer of Music Infinity Party on 21st of July in Palac Akropolis will be American electro DJ Lusine. With Sonority, a Czech producer as a forerunner, Prague will have a pleasure to enjoy their wavelengths, in the case of Lusine, after seven years from his last visit.

American producer Jeff Mcllwain, known as Lusine, stands in the front of the sophisticated dance music and has two decades of inventive, smart electronic music behind his belt.

Being on the scene from the late 90s, the Texas native living in Seattle follows the legacy of British techno beginnings.

Hooking abstract rhythms onto a melodic base, he combines techno, downtempo, ambient and house to create his trademark mixes.

Producer of thirteen long-running LP’s, twenty EPs and myriad of Soundtracks, Lusine spent his formative years on the West Coast, absorbing the Californian technique.

His debut album saw the light of the day in 1999 under the wing of Isophlux and five years later he was already signed by Ghostly International recording label.

There he released next five albums, including beloved collection The Waiting Room. Not limiting himself to Ghostly though, Lusine’s work can be also found with Mute, !K7, Kompakt, Asthmatic Kitty and Shitkatapult stamps on it.

Penetrating even into the movie world, his music accompanies films The Sitter, Snow Angels and Joe.

His last album Sensorimotor has released this March and counts as the weirdest animal Lusine ever let out. But, the experiment with vocals of his wife Sarah and American singer Benoit Piouldar brought back a positive echo from fans and critics alike.

“Without a doubt there are DJ’s with more experience on fields of idyllic downtempo, chilled out IDM, abstract hip hop or ambient techno, but, rarely can someone cover all these styles on a single disc with consistency of Lusine.” Music portal Allmusic summarizes the versatile producer.

Same as Lusine, Prague’s DJ and producer Jan Hanák, aka Soronity, walks the path of many styles. His tracks are full of dreaminess, energy, and rawness at once. Active on the home scene for more than ten years, he already introduced such names like Telefon Tel Aviv, Jon Hopkins or Nathan Fake. Last year he released debut album Raw under the British record company Distinct’ive which encircled the world. Both can be seen going all out on 21st of June in Palac Akropolis.
