Trance Department – Coldharbour Night 12.10
Trance Department will be taking place this Saturday 12th October at Club Mecca
The second monthly club night under the name Trance Department (organised by United Music) will be taking place this Saturday 12th October at Club Mecca in Prague. After last month’s debut with the Gallery 18th Birthday Tour edition, this weekend will be Coldharbour Night, featuring DJs from German DJ Markus Schulz’s record label. This is the first ever European Coldharbour Night and Dutch project manager for Trance Department, Martijn van den Berg (31), is clearly excited about it.
“Markus Schulz won’t be performing but we have got the three best European DJs from the roster of Schulz Music Group(SMG),” he says. “There will be Beat Service from Estonia who will perform for the first time in the Czech Republic, Mr Pit from Romania and Skytech from Poland. As well as those three we have two Czech resident DJs who will start and close the night, Thomas Coastline and N-Rico.”
Club Mecca in Prague 7 was totally reconstructed last year and has been equipped with a great Funktion One soundsystem. Mecca is mainly known for the high level service and the looks of the club and the first Trance Department night held there in September was headlined by English DJ Simon Patterson and was a huge success.
“We aim to bring a new and fresh club party to the scene that takes place on a monthly basis and are working hard to build our own community for that,” he adds. “We are very happy to cooperate on the party together with Mecca. Both United Music and Mecca are top brands when it comes to dance music on the Czech market and it is great to join forces.“
Coldharbour Night promises to be a great night for anyone who likes clubbing and all for affordable prices, which Martijn highlights as being important in these times. Visitors can look forward to great lights, decorations, lasers and other visuals. Regular tickets cost 250 CZK in advance or 350 CZK on the door, but of course people can also choose for more luxury and comfort by taking a VIP ticket or table.
Martijn himself has been working with United Music for the past five months. The Dutchman has had an interest in not just trance music but organising events ever since he was young.
“When I was just 16 I organised a birthday party and brought 250 people to an island by speedboats and constructed everything like bars and stage there,” says Martijn. “It was a really good event and even years later people were asking me in bars in our town when I would be doing another one. In the Netherlands I also organised some hardstyle parties for about 1,500 people and went on to study Event Management.”
It was after this that he came to Prague as part of a European voluntary placement and through some side ways finally found his place at United Music. Since then he’s been involved in their events such as Transmission, where he is responsible for international PR and travel, and Sensation.
Anyone who is up for a great party and fun with friends should be in Mecca this Saturday. You certainly won’t regret it.
