Legendary Prague club to celebrate 22nd anniversary
Prague.TV's longtime partner Roxy celebrates its successful years in business this October
Roxy, a Prague nightlife institution that for opened its doors 22 years ago, will celebrate its successful years in business this October with a week-long programme of events.
In collaboration with its upstairs venture, Café NoD, Roxy will celebrate its landmark birthday with a series of parties, concerts, exhibitions and theatrical premieres that is guaranteed to make it the pace to be this October.
Daniel Bacho, Roxy’s PR and Media Communications Manager, believes that Roxy’s ongoing success is due to its unique atmosphere.
“There is something really special about Roxy,” says Daniel. “The venue is in a historic building dating back to 1927 that formerly housed a cinema, and not much has been altered since the building was first constructed. Its historical importance combined with its focus on alternative music gives it a really distinctive vibe.”
The packed-full week of events will see American alternative band Liars play a set and American-Spanish producer and DJ Maceo Plex who will make his debut performance in the Czech Republic.
The club has also recently announced a new programme of concerts and events to take place throughout autumn and winter. On 12 September legendary electro master Carl Craig, a pioneer of Detroit’s techno scene in the 1990s will take to the Roxy stage, 26 September will see the club host a party with the UK-based label Ram Records which will feature music from the label’s best DJs, while 2 October will feature Danish producer Anders Trentemøller playing with his band alongside a whole host of other talented artists
“We are very privileged to be able to attract some of the biggest names in music,” says Daniel. “A lot of the artists that have played are amazed by the atmosphere of Roxy and, as we have such a strong name abroad, we see a lot of international musicians asking us if they can play here.”
