Nightlife: Prague shortened intervals for weekend night trams
Trams run now every 20 minutes
Good news for Prague’s party people: The Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) shortened weekends the intervals of night trams, instead every 30 minutes, night lines (51-59) run now every 20 minutes.
The significant increase effects also the number of the mostly used night buses (504, 505, 510, 511 and 512), lines 504 and 508 are merged and from now on line 504 operates the new route (Sídliště Písnice – Nemocnice Krč – Poliklinika Budějovická – I. P. Pavlova – Jiráskovo náměstí – Anděl – Nové Butovice – Velká Ohrada – Sídliště Stodůlky).
Central transfer stop for all night trams is Lazarská tram stop in the center of Prague, where all lines meet. Prague Metro continues to stop operation around midnight.
The responsible company for routing and timetables of public transport services in Prague (Ropid) will decide after a test phase by end of the year if it maintains the changes, as a spokesperson for the company told.
Regarding to prag-aktuell.cz the often crowded night trams and night buses currently carry over 31,000 passengers at weekends. The last systematic strengthening of public transport during night hours in Prague was made in 2001, when the interval of night lines changed from 40 to 30 minutes.
