AsianFest coming to Prague

The food and culture festival will cover three days a the end of July

AsianFest 2018, the largest cultural and culinary festival in Central Europe, will take place July 27– 29, 2018, at Branická louka in Prague.

The festival will bring atmosphere and experiences from countries such as China, Vietnam, Thailand, India, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

There will be cuisine from European Asian restaurants, cultural performances by Asian artists on five different stages and miniatures of famous Asian Monuments. AsianFest is not just about eating, is intended to take visitors to Asia to enjoy the whole weekend.

The second year of AsianFest will expand on its predecessor, with 120 restaurants offering authentic Asian delicacies, 350 artists who will arrive directly from Asia, and artistic and architectural monuments built on an area of 30,000 square meters.

An unusual aspect of the festival will be the opportunity to see the replicas of famous Asian monuments such as the Buddha statue of Phuket Island or the 20-meter replica of the Beijing Imperial Palace, Shanghai's Old Chinese Quarter full of shops or Thailand's Ko Pha-ngan beach.

For children, there will be Pandaland with live ponies and parrots.

The festival program is divided into three days. Each day will offer different artistic performances and the evening will be lit by a musical fire show featuring AsianFest Imagination.

A European fireworks record should be set on Sunday night when fireworks will illuminate Branický most (Braník Bridge) across its width for one minute.

The main form of transport to AsianFest 2018 is a boat that will take visitors from the Smíchov waterfront to a dock where they can easily reach the festival grounds.

Tickets are available online at the festival website and offer options. Five percent of each ticket will go through the AsianFest Foundation for charity. Each visitor will be able to vote using the AsianFest application to see where the money will go. There are two projects — the Kintari Foundation School in Indonesia or the Help Chang Foundation, dedicated to rescue elephants in Thailand.

For those who come from afar, there will be two special pop-up hotels in the festival area, designed by AsianFest Resorts. These have three-star tent accommodations at Komodo Dragon resort and more luxurious tent accommodations at Boracay Spa resort, where people can chose from a variety of tents or floating villas.

A detailed program guide for the festival is available for download on Android and iOS.

AsianFest is linked to two partner festivals that will be held in Prague on the same date. Paradise Island 2018 in Braník will take you to the beach of Thai Beach and offer a multi-genre music program. Ynspirology is an urban festival designed for everyone who loves contemporary internet stars, this year's edition will take place in Žluté lázně.
