Ginfest marks its fourth year

The festival aimed at the general public offers tastings and seminars

Ginfest by Barlife will take place for the fourth time on Saturday, March 2, in Vinohrady Pavilon, located at Vinohradská 50, Prague 2.

This fun and educational event celebrates the juniper drink and is aimed at the general public. Visitors can look forward to the broadest selection of gins and tonics from all over the world, all at one place, Apart from tasting, gin lovers can participate in educational seminars. Ginfest by Barlife is organized by Barlife, a professional magazine about the beverage industry published since 2004.

Gin’s popularity keeps growing steadily. According to data of the analytic company IWSR, the year-on-year increase in imported gins in the Czech Republic was 15 percent last year. The growth of this trend can be detected in the popularity of Ginfest by Barlife; the event is attended by more and more visitors as well as more exhibitors, whose gin portfolio keeps getting broader.

Visitors to Ginfest by Barlife can, therefore, spend a pleasant Saturday afternoon in the company of well-established as well as less-known gins from all around the globe, together with excellent cuisine. Any of the exhibited brands can be tasted for friendly prices.

As is traditional in events by Barlife magazine, educational seminars will take place as well. Visitors can learn more info about the juniper drink. Seminars will focus on the history and production of gins and tonics as well as new trends and directions in gins. The seminars will be held by leading experts and world ambassadors of specific brands.

Ginfest by Barlife will take place inside the building of the former market hall of Vinohrady, currently Vinohrady Pavilon, which had been finally renovated in 2013 into an interior-design three-story gallery. For this transformation, Pavilon received the Shop of the Year title from Czech Grand Design 2013. The location can be found in the town center, it is easily accessible for commuters.

Since 2004, the specialized magazine Barlife has come out bi-monthly. It is written primarily for gastronomy professionals, in other words, owners, managers and employees of select companies in the Czech and Slovak Republics. British analytic company IWSR called Barlife the “best magazine about beverages in Central Europe.”
