Breakfast and Brunch Spots to Start the Day Off Right

Every neighborhood has few places for a relaxing morning or early afternoon meal

What is better than starting your day with a nice breakfast in the beautiful city of Prague? Not much. The following list includes breakfast and brunch places grouped by neighborhood, guaranteeing both great food and a pleasant atmosphere. We promise, you will leave both physically and emotionally satisfied.

In the historical neighborhood of Prague 1, there is no shortage of satisfying brunch spots.

Café Louvre, Národní 22, is the perfect way to kick off the morning. The café has been in Prague 1 since 1902 and among its well-known guests were Karel Capek, Franz Kafka and Albert Einstein. Café Louvre offers a café, non-smoking salon and restaurant, patisserie billiards and a beautiful terrace in the summer months. The menu offers a wide selection of breakfast choices including pastries, eggs, goulash and salads, along with a Czech, a French, a Cowboy, and a Northern breakfast. The café also offers many different hot and cold beverages including coffees, juices and alcoholic beverages alike. 

Bohemia Bagel Café – Malá Strana, Lázeňská 19, is the perfect place to go to relax with a drink and a bite to eat. Bohemia Bagel Café serves an all-day breakfast and a great weekend brunch, offering an extensive menu with many American-style choices. The café was founded by an American entrepreneur and is located in the heart of Prague. Is everyone in your group in the mood for something a little different to eat? Then this café is the place for you as the menu includes eggs, sandwiches, breakfast burritos, pancakes, bagels, burgers, quesadillas, salads and more. It is sure to satisfy everyone’s appetite. In addition to the laid back Bohemia Bagel Café you can visit the Bohemia Bagel Bar & Grill in Holešovice for a more formal feel. And yes, they still serve the all-day breakfast, don't worry.

If your looking for a sophisticated atmosphere try La Bottega-Bistroteka, Dlouhá 39. In the morning they serve a great eggs Benedict, along with different healthy breakfast options and a selection of pastries that are sure to be satisfying. All of this just a short walk from the booming Old Town Square. 

The Globe Café, Pštrossova 6, resides in a beautiful 130 year-old historic building in the heart of Prague. The café has an active events calendar and showcases art exhibitions from some of the region’s leading artists. As for the food, the café offers a delicious weekday breakfast and weekend brunch. It is an expat favorite. The café has one of Prague’s oldest American brunch menus offering pancakes, waffles, eggs, along with more unique dishes such as chicken and waffles, a breakfast burger and huevos rancheros. In addition to its satisfying food, The Globe Café offers locally roasted coffee and other drinks and cocktails of all kinds.

The green Prague 2 (including most of the neighborhood of Vinohrady) is a popular neighborhood for expats and is jam-packed with trendy restaurants and coffee shops. Prague 2 is close to the city center and easily accessed via public transportation. 

Sweet and Pepper Days, Anglická 19, is a quaint little café with a nice atmosphere and great menu. It's the perfect stop in the morning if you are looking for a quick and delicious bite to eat. The breakfast menu includes omelets, crepes, fruit and a full size English breakfast.

If you’re in the mood for a quick and healthy bite and enjoy aesthetically pleasing food then don't miss Herbivore, Rašínovo nábř. 409/34. Their menu, including acai bowls and smoothies, is sure to satisfy your fruit cravings. Additionally, they have a small market in the café offering an array of satisfying vegan and organic options. It is a very convenient place to go before or after a walk through the art gallery in the Dancing House or the historical fort of Vyšehrad, as it is near both.

Right at the edge of Prague 1 is Prague 5, and part is so close to the historical center that many people don't realize they have wandered into another neighborhood.

Café Lounge, Plaská 615/8, offers an elegant atmosphere. Its breakfast menu includes croissants, an array of egg options, pancakes, sausages and more. Café Lounge also offers enough coffee options to satisfy any coffee-lover’s craving.

Café Savoy, Vítězná 124/5, is a must-go while in Prague. Definitely a bit touristy, Café Savoy is sure to provide both great breakfast and ambiance. Eggs, French toast, along with five different breakfast choices and many Savoy specialties, you will no doubt leave content. 

Prague 6, similar to Vinohrady in expat popularity, breeds more of a Czech atmosphere and has some great brunch spots that should not be missed.

With good breakfast during the week and brunch on the weekends Kavárna Místo, Bubenečská 12, is a great place to go for a cozy café atmosphere. The brunch menu includes an English breakfast, poached eggs, frittata, pancakes, salads, sandwiches and more.

The up and coming trendy neighborhood is Vršovice in Prague 10. The former middle class industrial area now has many cafes and galleries.

Café Jen, Kodaňská 553/37, is a nice stop for a great breakfast, coffee and a friendly atmosphere. From eggs, to fruit, to topped toasts, there is something for everyone. Also, if you have a sweet tooth don't hesitate to try their delightful cakes and donuts.
