Dance is considered not only a sport but also an art form. Prague offers a wide variety of dance courses of different styles for both Czech and English speakers. Salsa, street dance, classical ballet, zumba, flamenco are only a few styles of dancing you can master in Prague. If you have always wanted to try, check out these dance schools. Most have classes in English, bilingual classes or can accommodate international students.

You can start anytime and learn salsa, bachata and other types of Latin dance. People don't have to wait for the next block of lessons to begin learning. Their motto is that people should “grow, self-develop and dance, not watch TV.” There is no dress code, so there is no need to look for special shoes before starting. But you can dress up if you care to. The school stresses the social aspects of dance as a way to meet people and socialize. The first class is free, and people don't need to make a big commitment as lessons can be paid for one at a time, by the month or in blocks of 10. The school also teaches yoga.

First International Ballet School in Prague

The First International Ballet School in Prague focuses on the professional-level classical ballet for children from 4 years of age to adults, and provides lessons exclusively in English.

The lessons are provided by the ballet masters performing with the National Theater Ballet, who will raise your level of ballet from the beginner to advanced dancer.

There is also a possibility to take the modern dance classes, or private lessons, and master all the techniques you do not know yet. Attendance is twice per week.

Groovy Cats Swing Dance Club

Youth and adults of Prague have an opportunity to master Lindy hop, boogie woogie or the collegiate shag and surprise everybody at parties. Passion, inspiration, new friends, interesting workshops and performances are ahead of you if you join the Groovy Cats.

A trimester at the dance club consists of 12 lessons, and there are discounts for students and seniors.

National House of Vinohrady Dance School

The National House of Vinohrady Dance School is the largest dance school in Prague. It has organized dance courses since 1959 and is still the most popular dance school because of the friendly atmosphere.

Around 2,000 young students and 600 adult students attend dance courses at the National House of Vinohrady Dance School each year.

The school offers dance classes both for teenagers and adults. The course usually includes 10 lessons lasting 90 minutes for adults, and 18 lessons lasting 90 minutes for 15–19 year olds. You can master waltz, foxtrot, tango, blues, rumba, samba, and a lot of other dance styles. There are also special courses in Latin dance for women, including 10 lessons lasting 60 minutes. For those who want to work harder on technique, individual dance courses are also a possibility at the school.

Apart from the dance classes, the school organizes special events such as social evenings, where students have an opportunity see the dance performances and popular musicians.

Swing Busters

The Swing Busters dance troupe was established in 2011 and teaches the Lindy hop in courses that take up blocks of nine lessons and several location around the city. They also have open lessons in public spaces to try to get people interested. The lessons try to make the dance fun and teach you how to dance with anybody to any kind of swing music. The classes also show the principles of leading and following and on how to improvise.

Courses for children, adults, and individual lectures in ballet, zumba, salsa, contemporary dance, and a lot more can be found at Studio Dance Perfect.

Everybody can find something interesting, no matter if you are a beginner, intermediate or an advanced or professional dancer.

The courses at this studio run one semester and the seasons take place between September to January and February to June, however, you can join a course in progress. The pricing of the courses depends on its focus, length, and the level of difficulty. It is also possible to attend the open class lessons, which are paid for separately.

For those interested in some other activities, the studio offers Pilates and yoga classes.

This school offers courses for both beginning and advanced children, teenagers and adults, and will teach you how to be the best dancer in such styles as street dance, break dance, hip-hop, house dance, jazz, salsa and more.

More than a half of the dance teachers speak English and will help you to understand the technique and enjoy the individual approach.

The idea of the Voilà Dance School is to provide quality dance classes for reasonable prices. The first class is paid separately. If you enjoy it, you can then attend the whole course, consisting of 15 lectures. Students can attend classes with discounts.
