Czech Airlines Technics expands cooperation with ČVUT

The aircraft maintenance firm will offer practical experience to MÚVS students

Czech Airlines Technics (CSAT), an aircraft maintenance and subsidiary of Czech Aeroholding, and Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies (MÚVS) at the Czech Technical University in Prague (ČVUT) concluded a memorandum on lean management cooperation and other projects where they will exchange information for both business development and education.

Students will acquire theoretical and practical knowledge through partnerships directly in the company's operations.

“Czech Airlines Technics has long supported the interconnection of work practice with studying. We realize that collaborating with students is crucial, and advances society. We are now confirming significant lean management cooperation with the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies to help us further streamline and improve our internal processes,” Pavel Haleš, chairman of the board of directors of CSAT, said in a press release.

Joint projects will deal with specific aircraft maintenance processes to help increase capacity. The main objective is to propose solutions that would improve the use of resources.

“In preparing students in project management innovations, we emphasize three aspects: demanding theoretical preparation, very good language skills and, above all, the regular contact of students with business practices. This is extremely important for their future careers,” Lenka Švecová, director of MÚVS said at the signing. She added that the priorities have been shown to be effective.

“I therefore very much welcome the involvement of students of the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies in the Czech Technical University in Prague in real projects … in cooperation with Czech Airlines Technics. It is a good example of cooperation between a public college and the corporate sector,” she said.

The memorandum builds on the existing cooperation since 2017. Students can now use the knowledge gained during study directly in operation in the presence of a CSAT mentor, who will provide students with practical know how.

The memorandum was concluded for three years with the possibility of extension.

Czech Airlines Technics has already signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Faculty of Transport of ČVUT in December last year. CSAT also has an exclusive partnership with the Civil Aviation School in Prague and cooperates with other professional secondary schools.

Czech Airlines Technics mainly focuses on the maintenance of aircraft and components, engineering and modifications. Last year, the company carried out over 100 cases of heavy maintenance on Boeing 737, Airbus A320 family and ATR aircraft.

The most important CSAT customers include Czech Airlines, Finnair, Transavia Airlines, Germania, Travel Service, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and NEOS.

ČVUT is one of the largest and oldest technical universities in Europe. In 2017 CTU was ranked in QS World University Rankings at the 601st – 800th level and is the best domestic technical university in the Czech Republic. Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies (MÚVS) has been part of ČVUT for 25 years. Its activities include economic-technical study programs.

MÚVS has accredited bachelor, postgraduate and doctoral study programs. It also offers teacher training and courses for graduates of Czech and foreign technical universities. Over 1,500 students study in various areas, of which more than 10 percent are foreign students.
