Bohemian Carnevale 2008
Press Release: Be What You Want to Be
Prague, January 15, 2008: Triglaw Corp s.r.o. under the auspices of the Mayor of the City of Prague Pavel Bém and the Mayor of Prague 1 Petr Hejma organizes the second year of culture – social festival Bohemian Carnevale 2008, that will take place from January 31 till February 5, 2008 at various places all over Prague, mainly in the unique premises of Clam-Gallas Palace in the Old Town.
Splendid allegorical celebrations held in many worlds’ metropolises mainly in the Shrovetide period are always an exceptional culture-social phenomenon celebrating the joy of life, fantasy, talent, craft, and creativity. Director of the festival Zlatuše J. Müller adds: “Festivals of this type are all-European culture heritage. They used to take place in the Czech lands, as in other parts of Europe, for more than seven centuries and they have its historic tradition, that we would like to vivify again in the Bohemian Carnevale festival.”
Carnival programme is divided into several parts. For example “Divertimento Furioso” can be attended by anyone – as a participant or a by-stander. Also this year special guests – archaic masques from Sardinia (Italy) will be introduced walking around the streets of Prague.
It will be possible to attend other events taking place not only in the Clam-Gallas Palace only with a valid ticket or carnival pass. Visitors can borrow luxury gowns and wigs in the carnival studio Salon in the Clam-Gallas Palace, in which they can be eternalized by a professional photographer right in the premises of the baroque palace. Design installation and artistic performances will be accessible throughout the whole festival in nine rooms. Visitors will have the possibility to make their own mask with the help of creative artists, also buy thematic objects and publications and refresh themselves in a carnival bar and a café. Also children will have their own – children’s cabinet will be open for them and their mothers. Within the festival performance Smorgasboard of the Brno National Theatre will be performed in the culture centre Zahrada at Jižní město.
In the Clam-Gallas Palace every evening stylish parties “Galacticos” will be held, where important and young Czech fashion designers, top hairdressing parlours, visagists, DJ´s and classical music orchestras will be presented. Experience gastronomy will be an integral part of all these galactic nights.
With the carnival pass, participants can visit elite Prague restaurants, where cook masters, sommeliers and barmen prepare unique menus, sweets and other culinary surprises for them during the carnival week.
