Nultý bod marks 10 years
The theater festival will have a new music program at Werich Villa
The 10th edition of the physical and dance theater festival Nultý bod (Zero Point) will be held from July 16 to 21 at
Nultý bod regularly brings interesting cross-over projects focusing on dance and physical, puppet and visual theater to Prague.
“Each year, the program has a more or less visible thematic line. At the moment, I feel that we are missing a chat about intimacy: what it means to us, how it shapes our lives and how it manifests itself in artistic projects. That's why I decided on this topic,” festival artistic director Petr Boháč said. “Together with festival director Ludmila Vacková and [radio reporter and activist] Mary C, we have selected projects focusing on personal confessions, diving into the subconscious, memories, and intimate scenic narratives,” she added.
Visiting artists to the festival include the award-winning project Pour with award-winning Canadian dancer and choreographer Daina Ashbee, It explores the vulnerability and strength of women. German magazine Tanz ranked Ashbee among the 25 most interesting young artists in 2017, and the American publication Dance 2018 included her among 30 promising dancers this year.
The Italian-English couple Igor and Moreno have the pun-titled show Idiot Syncracy. The dance performance asks the audience to reflect on change. The show has influences from folk traditions of the Basque region and Sardinia.
Spanish puppeteer and performer David Espinosa presents the minimalist My Great Work. The plan was to put on a large show with hundreds of actors, but the reality turned out to be something different.
There are also several Czech artists. Soňa Ferienčíková, Mária Júdová, Alexandra Timpau present a show called Everywhen, about the contrasting sides of personal and political life. The show includes 3D animation and dance.
Spitfire Company has their recent show Magical Constellations II (Time for Sharing), featuring three women in a dreamlike dimension of dance, music
The rap musical Miss
An eight-hour performance and music installation by Tantehorse group called wood-wonder-wave will take place in Veletržní palác, part of the National Gallery.
A new feature is a music program in the garden of the Werich Villa. The music program includes British producer Sasha Perera with her project Perera Elsewhere and the surreal sounds of Berlin-based Colombian artist Lucrecia Dalt.
