Prague Fringe: Simian Features Presents Red Peter
Press Release
‘…I had two choices…live out my days behind the bars of a cage in a zoo…or learn to imitate man…and take to the stage!’
Red Peter is an articulate and muscular piece of total theatre, inspired by Franz Kafka’s short story A Report to an Academy.
Alone in his dressing room the fading Music Hall star and ape, Red Peter, contemplates a unique request from an esteemed scientific academy, an invitation to present his unique life story - his transformation from wild beast to ‘civilised man’.
’To feel such a physical reaction to a performance is a rare thing and something everyone should experience.’
Broadwaybaby.com
‘A superb piece of physical theatre…very funny monkey business!’
The Northern Echo
‘Gordon Duffy-McGhie does an excellent job of turning himself into an ambiguous mixture of human and simian.’
The Scotsman
‘Spurred on by a captivating central performance, this one-man staging of Franz Kafka’s short story is a theatrical treat!’
The List
In a show combining burlesque cabaret and mime with traditional elements of the one-man show, Simian Features present Red Peter
at Divadlo Na Prádle – Kavárna
21st to 30th May
at 19.15 (20.15)
as part of The Prague Fringe Festival 2009.
