Public transportation returns to regular schedule

Some changes to routes and route numbers will also take effect

Public transportation in Prague will be going back to the regular schedule on Sept. 3, and some bus lines will be renumbered.

The change back to standard from summer schedules coincides with the beginning of the school year. School buses will get new numbers. The numbers for school buses will be changed from 551–575 to 251–275. The numbers in the 500 range will be used for expanded service in the Central Bohemia region.

New changes will affect a number of bus connections. Some of the most important are the introduction of the new line number 239, which will be in a trial period for three months. Its route is from Palmovka to Novovysočanská, Sídliště Jahodnice, Dolní Počernice, Újezd nad Lesy and ending in Sídliště Rohožník. The route existed in the past, and has been restored at the request of the Prague 21 district.

The route of bus line 138 is being changed, and route 114 is being canceled. Route 101 is being changed, as 138 is taking over part of the route.

Route 138 will serve the Skalka area and also have stops at the Institute of the Academy of Sciences in Krč and the hospital in Krč. Medium-size buses will be used, as part of the route does not allow for large buses.

The stops in Horní Počernice will be changed to the “na znamení” regime, meaning people have to signal if they want to get off there. This will affect 12 stops. Transport organizer Ropid said this would held to improve the traffic flow.

Further changes are expected in Oct. 8, when more night buses will go into service.
