Repairs to Malá Strana tracks will disrupt trams
The 22 line is among those that will be diverted from Jan. 22 to Feb. 21
Tram transportation in the city center will become a bit complicated. The tracks between the Újezd and Malostranská stops will be closed for repairs from Jan. 22. to Feb. 21, according to the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP).
This will affect tourists as well as locals since the route is used by the popular 22 and 23 tram lines and the historical 97 tram. It also affects the 2, 7, 12 and 15 line.
A substitute X22 or X20 bus will cover part of the closed route. The X22 will run from Jan. 22 to Feb. 11 from Újezd to Malostranské náměstí and back. From Feb. 12 to Feb. 22 the X20 will run from Malostranské náměstí to Malostranská and back.
A tram stop in both directions for Malostranská will be at nábřeží Edvarda Beneše.
A temporary 32 tram will run along the following route: Bílá Hora – Vypich – Malovanka – Pohořelec – Pražský hrad – Malostranská (at nábřeží Edvarda Beneše) – Právnická fakulta – Malostranská – Pražský hrad – Pohořelec – Malovanka – Vypich – Bílá Hora.
Planned changes to tram service are:
- Trams 15 and 23 are temporarily suspended.
- Tram 2 from Sídliště Petřiny from the stop Chotkovy sady is diverted to Malostranská (at nábřeží Edvarda Beneše), Čechův most, Náměstí Republiky, Masarykovo nádraží, Hlavní nádraží, Olšanské náměstí and Flora at Olšanské hřbitovy, where it ends.
- Tram 7 in the city center from Anděl goes through Křížová and Laurová to Radlická, where it ends.
- Tram 12 from Výstaviště Holešovice after Sparta is diverted to Hradčanská, Prašný most, Brusnice, Pohořelec and Malovanka to Vypich, where it ends.
- Tram 20 from Divoká Šárka after Malostranská is diverted through Staroměstská, Národní třída, Karlovo náměstí, Palackého náměstí and Výtoň to Nádraží Braník, where it ends.
- Tram 22 from Nádraží Hostivař after Újezd is diverted through Švandovo divadlo, Anděl and Smíchovské nádraží to Sídliště Barrandov, where it ends.
- Historical tram 97 from Malostranská to Národní divadlo is diverted through Staroměstská.
On its website, the DPP apologized for the inconvenience and thanked people for understanding.
