Muzeum metro stop to close in both directions

Work on the metro A line will cause a complete closure during the weekend

The Metro A station at Muzeum will be closed May 12–13 from the start of service on Saturday to the end of service on Sunday.

The lower part of Muzeum metro station has been being renovated by the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) since the middle of last year. To keep the station at least partly open, work is being done on one platform at a time.

The station has been closed in the direction of Nemocnice Motol since the start of January. But not all of the work can be done without temporarily closing the entire station. During the closure, lighting will be installed and tiles will be replaced.

The renovations are going according to the planned schedule and should finish in June.

Two more weekends will require the entire station to be closed, June 23–24 and, after the main work is done, again on July 22–23.

People who want to come to Wenceslas Square over the weekend on the A line are advised to go to the Můstek station. To switch from the A line to the C line, people should transfer to the B line at Můstek and go to Florenc and switch to the A line there.

Workers in reflective vests will be at the closed station to advise people about transit options. Leaflets are being distributed and announcements in the metro are being made in Czech and English. Bilingual information boards are also being put up in the station.

The Metro A part of the Museum station opened in 1978, and it is 34 meters below ground. The metro C part of the station opened in 1974 and is just 10 meters below ground.

Renovations to the escalator at metro Anděl on the B line should finally be completed in the middle of June. The exit to Plzeňská street has been closed, and people have had to use the exit at the Na Knížecí bus depot.

Work on the escalators at metro Náměstí Republiky on the exit that actually goes to the square began in January and should last until the end of August. Until then people can enter and exit the station at Masarykovo nádraží.

After repairs at Anděl are finished, the station at Karlovo náměstí on the B line will also have its escalator fixed. The Palackého náměstí entrance will remain open.
