Prague's summer transit schedule starting

Waits on many lines will be longer and some routes are canceled

Public transit will go on a summer schedule starting June 30, and this will mean longer waits in some cases. The schedule will last until Aug. 31.

The most significant change during the holiday operation is the cancellation of some tram lines, the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) said in a press release.

Adjustments to timetables for this year's summer vacation period are similar to last year's. The service will drop the most at times when demand is the lightest.

Intervals on all metro lines will be extended by one to two minutes on weekdays.

There will also be some temporary changes concerning the four-day weekend of July 5 to 8. July 5 is Sts Cyril and Methodius Day; July 6 is Jan Hus Day.

From July 5 to July 8, the stretch between Kačerov and Pražského povstání will be closed on Metro C line. A replacement X-C bus will be deployed and bus lines 135 and 196 will be reinforced. At the same time the Dejvicka stop on the Metro A line will be closed. Existing tram lines can take people to Dejvicka from Hradčanská or Bořislavka.

On the weekend of July 21–22 the Muzeum station on the Metro A line will be closed in both directions.

During the summer holidays, tram lines 4 and 21 will not be in operation due to low demand, and line 13 will be canceled due to track work.

On the backbone lines 9, 16, 17 and 22 the intervals will be extended from four to five minutes at peak times and around five to six minutes at midday. For other lines, intervals are adjusted at peak business times from eight to 10 minutes and at midday from 10 to 12 minutes.

Work also continues on the tracks in the Palmovka - Bulovka section, to be completed in September.

Work on the track in the stretch from Želivského - Museum - IP Pavlova will be from June 30 to Aug. 31, as previously announced.

Bus timetables will be adjusted for holiday traffic. In the morning peak hours, waits on the key lines are extended from six to 7.5 minutes in peak times, and in the afternoons from 7.5 to 10 minutes.

On line 236, during the summer holidays, the traffic on afternoons between Bohnice and the Zoo will be increased.

On Line 168, in the section from Nové Butovice - Nemocnice na Homolce, the intervals at peak times on working day will be extended from 15 minutes to 30 minutes.

There will be no school connections or bus lines 343, 451 and 465 running on summer holidays. School line 305 will be permanently canceled as of June 30. The school lines will start again until Sept. 3.

There are also some permanent changes coming in to effect.

Starting as of July 1 regular operation of a trolleybus called line 58 will commence on the Palmovka – Prosek – Letňany route.

For trams, the historic line 41 will be in operation on the route Vozovna Střešovice – Pražský hrad – Malostranská – Malostranské náměstí – Újezd – Národní divadlo – Národní třída – Lazarská – Vodičkova – Václavské náměstí – Jindřišská – Masarykovo nádraží – Náměstí Republiky – Dlouhá třída – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Výstaviště Holešovice.

Starting June 30, the Hotel Golf and Poštovka stops are included in the request stop category.

There are several changes for buses. Line 108 is operated on the route Sídliště Na Dědině – Divoká Šárka – Nádraží Ruzyně – Petřiny – Poliklinika Petřiny – Vozovna Střešovice – Thákurova – Národní technická knihovna – Nemocnice Bubeneč – Sibiřské náměstí – Dejvická. In the Vozovna Střešovice – Bořislavka section it is replaced by line 216.

The operation of buses serving line 137 on the Na Knížecí – Jinonice route is shortened to serve the Na Knížecí – U Waltrovky route.

Line 216 is extended to serve the route Sídliště Baba – Bořislavka – Vozovna Střešovice – Vojenská nemocnice – Poliklinika Petřiny.

Line 305 is canceled.

Starting as June 30, night bus stops Pražského povstání (in the direction of Vyšehrad) and Vyšehrad (in both directions) are included in the request stop category.
