Prague to Antalya flights start in summer

SunExpress will fly to the Turkish Riviera twice weekly as of June

Low-cost airline SunExpress announced that it will fly from Prague to Antalya, a favorite summer destination on the Turkish Riviera, during the summer season. SunExpress is a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines focused on summer holidays.

Regular flights will be available from June 11 to September 20, 2019, twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays. The new line will use a Boeing B737-800NG aircraft configured for 189 economy class passengers.

The B737-800NG, or NextGen, is an upgraded version of the original 737 with wider wingspan and greater fuel capacity, modern electronic cockpit and improved interior design. B737-800NG has an extended body compared to the B737-700 series.

Based on airport estimates, the connection is expected to be used by approximately 10,000 passengers per year in both directions.

“Czech people’s interest in air travel to Turkey is growing. In the summer months of this year, the number of passengers transported to Antalya almost doubled. The new regular line will expand the connection to this popular destination and offer another option for tourism,” Václav Řehoř, chairman of the board of directors of Prague Airport, said in a press release.

Prague Airport, which operates Václav Havel Airport Prague, has been seeking to increase its passenger numbers by both adding new destinations and increasing capacity on existing routes.

The airline is pleased to offer the new destination.

“SunExpress is always trying to expand its portfolio for both our base in Antalya and Izmir. The connection from Václav Havel Airport Prague to Antalya will be another interesting addition to our network of destinations. We look forward to welcoming on our aircraft many Czech passengers who want to spend the summer holidays on the beaches around Antalya,” Wilken Bellmann, head of network planning and scheduling at SunExpress, said.

Flights leave Antalya on Tuesdays and Fridays at 3:55 pm and arrive in Prague at 6:05 pm. Flights leave Prague at 6:40 pm and arrive in Antalya at 10:35 pm.

Antalya, on the Mediterranean coast in the southwestern part of Turkey, is the country’s largest summer resort. In addition to the beautiful beaches, Antalya boasts waterfalls, a historic city center and excellent cuisine, according to the carrier.

SunExpress specializes in summer vacation holidays, and for over 30 years has been operating between Europe and Turkey, as well as other vacation destinations on the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, the Canary Islands and North Africa.

The carrier’s network has more than 90 foreign destinations in 30 countries. The airline operates 1,800 flights per week and in 2018 transported nearly 10 million passengers.

Ticket sales have already begun via the carrier's website
