Prague Airport launching summer schedule

More destinations will be offered this summer including a record for long-haul flights

The summer flight schedule at Václav Havel Airport Prague goes into effect Sunday, March 31. Some 69 carriers will operate their regular direct flights from Prague during the summer season. There will be a total of 162 destinations in 54 countries. There will also be direct connections to 16 long-haul destinations, which is the most in the modern history of Prague Airport.

“As part of the summer timetable, four new carriers will operate at Václav Havel Airport Prague, two of them on long-haul flights. It is a confirmation that we have been able in the long to term motivate a growing number of airlines to open new routes from Prague, which ultimately means a wider range of passenger flights,” Václav Řehoř, chairman of the board of Prague Airport, said in a press release. Compared to the previous summer flight season, the total number of airlines operating direct flights from Prague will increase by two this year. Among the new carriers, Air Arabia, SCAT Airlines, SunExpress and United Airlines will appear in Prague for the first time.

“The upcoming summer flight schedule also confirms that we have successfully implemented a long-haul airline development strategy. During the summer, direct flights to 16 long-haul destinations will be available from Václav Havel Airport, most in the modern history of the airport. In addition to new destinations such as Astana, Kazakhstan, or Newark, New Jersey, passenger will also be available to avail themselves of destinations from the previous summer schedule such as New York’s JFK airport, Philadelphia, Toronto or Montreal,” Řehoř said.

In total, some 14 new destinations will be flown within the summer timetable. In addition to a regular flight to New York to Newark Airport, which will be operated from Prague daily by United Airlines and to Astana (recently renamed Nur-Sultan), operated twice a week by SCAT Airlines; there will be service to Casablanca, twice a week with Air Arabia Maroc; Florence, four times a week with Vueling; or Billund, three times a week with Ryanair.
Also included are two purely holiday destinations: Pescara in Italy and Zadar in Croatia, both twice a week with Ryanair. Thanks to these lines, passengers are given the opportunity to travel faster and more comfortably by plane to destinations that until recently were mainly accessible by car.

Other direct flights were already in operation during the winter season, but during the summer they will be flying from Prague for the first time ever. These include, for example, flights to Amman, Marrakesh, Sharjah, Paris / Beauvais or Moscow / Zhukovsky.

The most direct flights from Prague this summer will be to Italy, with 17 destinations, followed by Britain with 16 destinations, and Spain and Greece, both with 12 destinations.

The most popular destinations with the highest number of connections from Václav Havel Airport Prague will be London, up to 93 flights per week; Moscow, up to 63 flights per week; Paris, up to 58 flights per week), Amsterdam, up to 54 flights per week; and Warsaw, up to 52 flights per week.
