Ryanair launches 16 new routes
The low cost has expanded the fleet at its Prague hub for the summer
At the same time, the airline celebrated the launch of 16 new routes that will operate from Prague during the summer flight schedule.
In total, Ryanair will offer 31 flights from Prague, including the 16 new lines. The 31 destinations are available until March 2020.
“We are pleased that we are expanding our airline network and are launching our largest ever summer flight schedule at Václav Havel Airport Prague. Sixteen new routes from Prague — namely Amman, Bari, Venice-Treviso, Bournemouth, Billund, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Palma de Mallorca, Paris-Beauvais, Pescara, Pisa, Riga, Stockholm, Marseilles, Marrakesh and Zadar — show Ryanair’s commitment to improving the accessibility of Prague and supporting its tourism, as well as contributing to reducing the seasonality of the region and enabling foreign tourists to enjoy the charm of Prague during the beautiful summer,” Ryanair’s Denis Barabas said.
“We will celebrate the launch of the new line by selling tickets for flights from Prague at prices starting at just Kč 389, departing in May 2019. Tickets will be available for sale until Friday, April 5, at midnight. Flights at such great prices will surely sell out quickly, so passengers should visit www.ryanair.com as soon as possible so that they do not miss a unique offer,” he added.
The new routes are made possible by the addition of two more aircraft to the Prague base, making a total of four planes. The two added aircraft represent a $200 million investment, according to previously published information.
Prague Airport, the company that operates Václav Havel Airport Prague, was pleased with the addition of new routes, as it fits into the airport’s long-term strategy of expansion.
“With the introduction of 16 new routes, the airline's offerings for travel in Europe will be significantly expanded, including destinations in Croatia and Italy, which Prague Airport also supports in its marketing campaign. Also in the summer season, flights to more distant destinations, to Jordan or Marrakesh, will be presented for the first time. New destinations include holiday destinations such as Pescara and Zadar, which can now be traveled more comfortably and faster by air,” Jiří Vyskoč, executive director of aviation at Prague Airport Aviation, said.
Ryanair is an Irish low-cost airline founded in 1984, headquartered in Swords in County Dublin, Ireland. Its primary operational bases are at Dublin and London Stansted airports. Ryanair is the largest European airline by scheduled passengers flown and carried more international passengers than any other airline.
The backbone of the Ryanair fleet is the Boeing 737-800, which accounts almost all of the carrier’s over 450 planes. The average age of the Ryanair fleet is approximately 6.5 years and is set to get younger as new planes are added.
Among recent initiatives at Ryanair are commitments to eliminate plastics and to offset the environmental impact of flights.
The airline also guarantees the lowest ticket fees, offers a loyalty program and has new online services for clients.
