Trams to be disrupted in Holešovice

The planned track repairs will take place in stages until the middle of May

Spring always seems to launch a new season of tram track repairs, throwing travelers into some confusion.

In addition to the ongoing extensive renovations of the tram line in the lower part of Vinohradská Street, which will last until July 13, there will be another disruption in several stages between Náměstí Republiky and Hradčanská from April 11 to May 17.

“Due to the repair of the tram line at Strossmayerovo náměstí, tram traffic will be interrupted during the first stage from Thursday, April 11, to Thursday, April 18, in the Strossmayerovo náměstí – Letenské náměstí – Hradčanská section,” DPP spokeswoman Aneta Řehková said.

Details of the further stages will be announced closer to the start time.

In the first stage, the workers will change the tracks branching from Milady Horákové Street and repair the connecting arches toward Nábřeží kapitána Jaroše. In the Strossmayerovo náměstí to Hradčanská section, rails will get some grinding and be rewelded.

Tram lines 1 and 25 will be diverted in the Strossmayerovo náměstí - Hradčanská section via Čechův most, Malostranská (at nábřeží Edvarda Beneše) and Chotkovy sady.

Tram lines No. 8, 91 and 96 will be diverted in the section Dlouhá třída - Hradčanská via the stops Čechův most, Malostranská (at nábřeží Edvarda Beneše) and Chotkovy sady.

Tram line 12 will be canceled in the Chotkovy sady – Sídliště Barrandov section and will be replaced by a reinforced tram 20, and in the section Strossmayerovo náměstí – Výstaviště Holešovice by tram 26.

Tram 26 will be diverted from Strossmayerovo náměstí via the Vltavská, Pražská tržnice, Dělnická and Nádraží Holešovice stops to Výstaviště Holešovice.

In daily operation, a replacement bus X1 will be introduced along the Strossmayerovo náměstí – Letenské náměstí – Hradčanská section.

In the night operation, a replacement bus X91 will be introduced in the Náměstí Republiky – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Letenské náměstí – Hradčanská section.

In addition, the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) will again use Easter for the maintenance in the Metro C line. From Friday to Monday, April 19–22, the traffic between the Pražského povstání and Budějovická stations will be interrupted. There will be replacement buses.

In both cases, there will be signs and announcements, and transit officials will distribute information.
