Chodov shopping mall expanding

A new section will open Oct. 11 to make it one of the largest

A new section of the shopping mall Centrum Chodov will open Oct. 11, and largely be dedicated to fashion and accessories, with a food court upstairs. The area of the shopping mall will increase by two-thirds, from 60,000 square meters to 102,000 sqm. The mall will have a total of approximately 300 stores. The cost of the expansion was announced in 2015 at being Kč 4.5 billion.

The expanded restaurant zone called Grand Kitchen opened at the end of March with more than 30 food vendors. It will be expanding with more restaurants, including Pizza Hut and Vegg-Go as well as the Italian pizza chain Andiamo and the bistro Mondieu.

After the opening of the extension, Centrum Chodov will be the one of the largest shopping malls in the Czech Republic. OC Letňany is larger, however, with 125,000 sqm but has 180 stores.

There will also be a multiplex with 18 screens and 4DX technology. It will be able to seat 2,600 people at once. Developer Unibail-Radamco says it will be the largest in terms of screens and most modern multiplex in the country. The current largest, Cinestar Anděl, has 14 screens, but the 12-screen multiplex at Letňany seats 2,668 people.

The extension will have all seven brands of Spanish retailer Inditex: Zara, Bershka, Stradivarius, Pull & Bear and Massimo Dutti, Zara Home and Oysho. There will also be an H & M flagship store of 3,000 sqm will appear among the new tenants. Some brands will be in the Czech Republic for the first time such as Armani Exchange, Pink Woman, Yamamay, Boux Avenue, Thomas Sabo jewelry and AW Lab sportswear.

On the upper floors, global luxury brands will be introduced such as Weekend Max Mara, Max&Co., Luisa Spagnoli, Michael Kors, Stefanel, Coccinelle, Bogner, Marella and French Connection.

There will also be an area dedicated to Czech fashion and design.

The grand opening on Oct. 11 will feature performances by Leoš Mareš, Ewa Farna, David Koller and Eddie Stoilow. There will be special promotions and event until Oct. 15.

Unibail-Radamco owns 71 shopping malls across Europe including Centrum Černý Most. The firm also owns office buildings and exhibition centers.
