Prague Cake Festival promises a sweet time

The third edition of the festival will offer an international array of treats

One thing people can generally agree on is that cake is good. The third Prague Cake Festival takes place Nov. 11, 2017, from 10 am to 7 pm at Hotel Pyramida in Prague 6.

The event is broad, and aside from cakes, there are other desserts including muffins, cupcakes, koláčky, macrones and other delicacies. Some 28 exhibitors will present the best of their specialties.

Visitors can try all kinds of desserts, with countless flavors, ingredients, and styles of preparation. There will be treats for fans of classic desserts as well as new health trends such as vegan, raw, and gluten-free items. Classics will include Sachertorte, red velvet, chocolate or cream cakes.

The offerings will also be very international, with American donuts and cupcakes, French pastries, Russian cakes, Czech coffins (rakvičky) and Japanese frushi. Added to the diversity there will be hand-painted gingerbread, brownies, and cake pops.

The widest assortment will probably be appreciated by lovers of cupcakes, which have undergone a transformation in recent years. The small deserts now feature various fillings and elaborate toppings.

In addition to fabulous desserts, you can also enjoy delicious coffee served in a cookie cup, fruit juice, wine, sweet drinks and homemade sodas.

In addition to tasting, visitors can buy goods directly from exhibitors at discounted festival prices.

As part of the accompanying program, visitors can enjoy competitions for decorating gingerbread, cakes, cupcakes, making edible figurines, making pralines or a barman show.

There will be children's workshops and a sweet prize raffle three times during the day.

The entry ticket includes five tasting portions. Tickets are available on GoOut for Kč 200 or at the door for Kč 250. Entry with regular tickets starts at 10:30 am. Discounts for seniors and students are available.

VIP tickets that allow early entry, at 10 am, plus a welcome drink and more tasting portions.

The number of VIP tickets is limited and can only be bought in advance for Kč 370.
