MINT Market offers Christmas options

Gifts can be bought directly from the people who make them

It is already time to start getting holiday shopping under control. The MINT: Prague Fashion Market, already in its 23rd edition, is ready to help people find original goods straight from the creators, as well as workshops and refreshments.

Prague shoppers can avoid the crowds and the pre-packaged commercial atmosphere. On the weekend of Nov. 17–18 people go to the usually inaccessible fifth and sixth floors of Kotva at náměstí Republiky. MINT was at the same space in April.

“More and more people are interested in the origin of the gift that they put under the tree. They do not want to support multinational corporations or buy Chinese knockoffs. They want an original gift from the hands of the person who made it. They want sustainable goods that they can feel good about. And that is why they do their Christmas shopping at the MINT market,” festival organizer Zbyněk Hanko said in a press release.

Visitors will have free entry and can choose from more than 120 stalls with clothing, jewelry, accessories, design items, and of course products for children. There will be original books and food delicacies.

For the first time, Carbon chiefs will show their carbon fiber accessories at the festival. “We like the variety of designers on the market. We look forward to showing our carbon bowls, which we have been working for over a year. We are proud of those with Swarovski crystals. We have also prepared three secret new items that we plan to reveal there,” Carbon chiefs’ Filip Peško said.

Monika Piecuch Roženková will be there her fashion brand MonaRosa. She is very pleased with Kotva because she missed the spring edition and the area appeals to her. "At MINT, I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. We build contacts, talk to customers, and sometimes create other interesting projects. This time, I have a new collection of stoles and artificial fur hats for both adults and children,” she said.

Whoever loves Christmas gingerbread can stop at the stand Perníčkův sen. “There is tasty traditional gingerbread according to the family recipe, as well as cupcakes, cakes and pies. And the people can take away the entire winter wardrobe baked from our gingerbread,” Perníčkův sen’s baker said.

But people do not go to MINT just to buy. Some just want to have fun, dance or find new friends.

This time, Annabelle Minerals will have a workshop to show how to do mineral make-up. The brand Metraz will show its new collection called Engaged Against Xenophobia and Social Exclusion. Wearme Fashion will showcase its sustainable fabrics.

Non-profit organizations will come to the festival. Young Doctors and Medics will teach people self-examinations for breast cancer. Klub svobodných matek will offer goods to support for children without fathers. And Pet Heroes will explain what to look for when buying a pet.
