Václav Havel Airport Prague has new stores

A new shopping zone in Terminal 2 will have Lagardère Travel Retail outlets

Lagardère Travel Retail has opened three new fashion stores at Václav Havel Airport Prague under the name The Fashion Place as well as the cosmetics shop Rituals.

Shortly after passing through the security check at Terminal 2, passengers will see modern-design spaces following the latest trends for large international airports. The newly opened business units will become part of a large shopping zone in the near future that will be created at Terminal 2 early next year.

“Prague Airport has been experiencing significant development in recent years, not only in the area of air transport, but also for new services and shops. We are expanding the range of consumer goods as well as gastronomy so that everyone has choices at the airport. We are therefore pleased that Lagardère Travel Retail has decided to strengthen its presence at the airport with a new type of store. These will become a significant part of the future Terminal 2 business zone that will offer new brands and a new concepts for restaurants available exclusively at our airport in the Czech Republic,” Jiří Petržilka, executive director of non-air traffic at Prague Airport, said in a press release.

The new fashion stores have an area of almost 290 square meters and are the next generation of Lagardère Travel Retail fashion design, called The Fashion Place. The Rituals cosmetics store has an area of 51 square meters.

“The shops are equipped with modern furnishings in line with the latest design trends for fashion stores at airports. In particular, we tried to make the concept playful and energetic so the customer can not only shop but can also took have a unique shopping experience. Part of the concept is a special product display with a thematic offer that changes so that regular passengers find can something new at the airport,” Richard Kalhous, managing director of Lagardère Travel Retail Czech Republic, said.

Shops are open every day from 6 am to 10 pm. Customers can speak Czech, English or Russian with the shop staff.

Travelers will find fashion brands such as Hugo Boss, Polo Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger and the new Superdry. There are also leather goods and luggage such as Furla, Longchamp, Michael Kors, Tumi, Samsonite, Herschel and Eastpack. Watch, sunglass, jewelry and accessory brands include Swatch, Tissot, Certina, Swarovsky, Tous, Calvin Klein and Rayban.

The Rituals store, which has a specific design, offers a wide range of cosmetics, scented candles, perfumes, teas and products exclusively for travel retail.

Lagardère Travel Retail, one of Lagardère's four divisions, is the world's leading company in the retail sector in tourism. The company had a turnover of € 4.5 billion euros in 2017 and operates in 34 countries worldwide with 4,400 stores under different concept names.

Václav Havel Airport Prague, operated by the firm Prague Airport, has been modernizing to allow for more passenger traffic. Innovations either completed in 2018 or planned for next year include new, modernized check-in services both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, renovated waiting areas and new luggage handing infrastructure.

The airport set a record earlier in December with the number of checked-in passengers reaching 16 million in one calendar year for the first time. The record was broken in the evening hours of Dec. 11.

On average, approximately 46,000 passengers passed through Václav Havel Airport daily since the beginning of the year. The busiest month so far was July with a total of nearly 1.9 million passengers.

Václav Havel Airport Prague opened April 5, 1937, as Prague Ruzyně Airport. Right after former president Václav Havel's death on Dec. 18, 2011, an online petition asked the government to rename it to Václav Havel International Airport. This name change took place Oct. 5, 2012, on what would have been Havel's 76th birthday.
