Baťa Fashion Weekend celebrates 125 years

The event held in Prague will have models that reflect the real world

Baťa Fashion Weekend will take place April 13–14 in Žofín Palace in Prague. The theme this time is Style Evolution. The event will feature fashion shows, the Baťa Young Designers' Challenge, an exhibition and shoe museum, and activities for visitors.

A part of the weekend will be devoted to the 125th anniversary of Baťa, which happens this year. Entry to the event is free. The Baťa Fashion Weekend program will also be streamed live over Facebook.

“The Baťa Fashion Weekend is one of the most important events in our year, not only introducing new collections, but also celebrating our commitment to offering comfortable shoes with a variety of innovations that combine style and quality at competitive prices,” Baťa CEO Alexis Nasard said.

There will be a fashion show, where the stage goes into a runway. The background of the show is a visual experience with animation and sound such as a heartbeat and DNA.

Everything will be dark, mysterious, artistic, but also brilliantly modern, evoking the theme of the Evolution of Style, according to a press release.

The company says it will be taking a different approach to models. Imagine that you sit down on a shoe show, the lights go out, the voltage goes up, and the animation starts.

Visual enjoyment is enhanced by the first beats of the DJ, followed by models. But they not what people are used to, the company promises.

“The Baťa Manifesta also includes support for people to be just as they are, and not under the pressure of a beauty image. Our show models will reflect this,” Baťa global marketing head Jana Barbati Chadová said. “So, instead of very thin and cool models, expect old, young, thin or robust. In short, the whole spectrum of people who are happy with themselves,” she said.

The weekend will be attended by celebrities, influencers, fashion journalists and fashion lovers from around the world.

People shouldn’t miss the special show of various Baťa collections including Italian or Chinese shoes, the Red Label Collection, technology from Insolia and Flexible, and the current collaboration Baťa Heritage x Coca-Cola. The new Mello by Baťa Power will also be introduced globally.

In addition, there will be a collection of shoes that represent a cross-section of 125 years of Baťa's history, including Tomáš Baťa’s workshop with tools that Baťa and his employees actually used.

There will also be the finals of the Baťa Young Designers' Challenge, where students from the Czech Republic, Italy and Kenya will compete. As in previous years, this year's winning shoes will be mass produced and sold in selected Baťa stores worldwide.

Hundreds of students took part in the competition, and 10 finalists will be at the event.

The winner will be announced on April 13.

Visitors can also complete their own Tomy Takkies sneakers in the creative area on site.

If you can’t come in person, you can enjoy Baťa Fashion Weekend from your home via Facebook. In the Czech Republic you can watch the Baťa Fashion Weekend program at or
