Dyzajn Market 2013 - event preview

Spring edition of Czech design market is back and bigger than ever

Pulling ourselves from our winter slumbers and into the light of day will certainly become much easier on Saturday March 23, as the latest installment of Dyzajn Market is once again in full swing. Some 130 designers in the areas of home-goods, accessories, children’s, men’s and women’s clothing, will be on sale for you to shake off those winter blues for something a bit more spring forward.

Standard favorites like Barbora Fialova, Yaxi Taxi, Lubor Baum, and Vuchor will be side by side with a few new faces like Wings of Madness (full disclosure I have a rad porcelain necklace that I cherish from them), Chocolaterie Co-Xo- a melt-in-your-mouth chocolate treat when the shopping becomes a bit too much, Eco-mamma- a store selling eco-friendly fashionable products; plus many more.

As with every Dyzajn market, tasty treats will be provided by an assortment of fantastic restaurants located in and around the city center. Treat your taste buds to Cafe Jericho, Balkan Grill, creperie Galetka, and the always popular Mama Coffee.

For those who just can’t seem to find what they are looking for in the market (though let’s be honest, you are walking out of the New Scene with at least one small purchase), there is still away for you to help your local Czech community by purchasing or decorating biscuits from the organization Sweet Dots, which in conjunction with Spolu detem, is helping to raise money to improve the lives of young children living in orphanages.

Votocvohoz, an online store where you can sell your unwanted clothing, will be at the event should you want to drop off a few or a lot of pieces and exchange them (for free) with other people’s clothes. Think of it as a really big clothing swap with people you don’t know.

Also new this year is the first ever after party held at Cafe Jericho at 8pm.
