Praguemarket coming to náměstí Republiky

An outdoor downtown fashion market will become a regular event next year

Original designer clothes, accessories and jewelry as well as food stalls will be at náměstí Republiky on Nov. 19 from 10 am to 6 pm. Emphasis will be on natural products as well as items from Czech designers and companies.

The event will become a regular occurrence next year at náměstí Republiky, which is centrally located in Prague and has high foot traffic from both local residents and tourists. Some 50,000 people pass the area every day. The plan is to hold the market every two weeks at the same location.

Náměstí Republiky has metro, tram and bus service, making it convenient. The market will be in the pedestrian zone next to the metro B entrance.

The area also is at the edge of Na Příkopě, a street with fashion shops and the highest rent per square meter in the Czech Republic. Two shopping malls, Kotva and Palladium, are also nearby. Praguemarket will offer some alternatives to the selection at those locations.

The market is unrelated to the traditional Christmas markets, which will start Nov. 26 and run until Dec. 6 at Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square, and run from Nov. 26 to Dec. 30 at náměstí Republiky. There will also be a market at náměstí Míru from Nov. 20 to Dec. 24 and at Tylovo náměstí from Nov. 23 to Dec. 24. Smaller markets will be at other locations across the city.
