D+D REAL Czech Masters brings some big names to Prague

The big golf tournament starts soon just west of Prague at the Albatross Course

Golf has never had a stronger following in the Czech Republic, and the crown of the Czech golf season, the D+D REAL Czech Masters, is attracting some big names to Prague. The headline players of Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke and John Daly have a total of five majors between them. Kaymer and Westwood’s tussle for world number one in 2011 will surely be rekindled at the D+D REAL Czech Masters as they go into the tournament amongst the favourites. “We are convinced that Kaymer, Westwood, Clarke and Daly are real icons of golf for anyone who follows golf,” states Pavel Poulíček, executive director of the tournament.

D+D REAL Czech Masters is also honored to have the presence of Richard Hill, Ryder Cup Director present during the tournament, with the tournament in Prague having a big infleunce on the European Team Qualification, “The tournament has a big influence on the Ryder Cup selection, it is a big honour for us, the tournament and the Czech Republic,” says Pavel Poulíček regarding Richard Hill’s presence. The Prague tournament actually counts twice towards selection for the next Ryder cup in France making it an influential tournament for some of the European players.

The D+D REAL Czech Masters action all starts on Tuesday, August 29th, at 3.30 pm where the golfers will be having some fun and meeting the public by the river at Čechův Most. Not only can you enjoy the players trying to hit a floating green, you’ll also be able to meet them for autographs. On Wednesday the players will be practicing and on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 9 am we should see the players hit off with the winner being crowned on Sunday evening.

The Albatross Course just outside Prague has become a European Tour standard course and this is a great reason why the D+D REAL Czech Masters is played here each year; it’s close to Prague giving the players comfortable accommodation and easy for Prague citizens to get to. “Every year, Albatross is a course in excellent shape,” Pavel Poulíček confirms. Albatross is settled on the top of the hills seperating Prague from Beroun and just off the D5 freeway. If you don’t have your own car to get the golf you can also take one of the free shuttle buses from Zličin metro station. The full schedule is available on www.czechmasters.cz.

Despite having some of Europe's and the world's best golfers on display, there’ll be plenty of other activities to get involved in at the Albatross golf course between watching the golf including a food festival with specialities from all over the world, a special kids zone with plenty of attractions, stands offering golfing merchandise and what Prague.TV hears is some great ice cream.

With only a few weeks to go until the tournament, you can buy tickets from Ticketpro’s website at reasonable prices, and we definitely recommend getting out to the tournament:
