D+D REAL Czech Masters starts Aug. 31

The golf tournament is highlighted by visiting stars of the sport

The fourth year of the D+D REAL Czech Masters kicked off Aug. 28 at Čechuv Most where the stars of the golf tournament showed their skills hitting balls from a boat to a pontoon with a golf hole, which was no easy task as both were rocking in the water of the Vltava river.

The tournament itself starts Thursday, Aug, 31, at the Albatross Golf Resort.

A press conference before the boat exhibition featured some of the visiting stars of the tournament such as Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke, John Daly and Ryder Cup director Richard Hills.

The D+D REAL Czech Masters starts the qualification for the Ryder Cup, which will be played in 2018 near Paris. “This is going to be a story that will culminate in Le Golf National,” Richard Hills said.

German player Martin Kaymer will be in a Czech tournament for the first time. He said golf was the most important attraction for coming to the city. “I will try to win the tournament,” he said. But the city itself also drew him back. “I will also enjoy the Prague atmosphere. I was here on a private visit in January, and the city was exciting,” he added.

Having some of the world’s best-known players here in Prague puts the D+D REAL Czech Masters at the forefront of the sporting weekend with viewing audiences across Europe and the globe looking in. In Prague, you’ll be able to watch the golf on Nova Action (in Czech), in the UK it will be broadcast on Sky Sports Golf. Check your local listings for more information.

Prague.TV will also be providing updates, interviews and additional coverage.

The event is open for the public to come as spectators. During the whole tournament you can look forward to an international food festival, a Nespresso coffee point with free coffee, test drives from Škoda Auto, official merchandise, stores offering various sporting goods and a kids play area.

There is free entrance for all those who submit a Czech Golf Federation membership card, a key from Škoda car, a Raiffeisenbank bank card, GOPASS card, betting ticket from Tipsport with a minimum bet of Kč 50 for the D + D REAL Czech Masters, children under 15, seniors and people with ZTP cards.

For others, entry on Thursday or Friday is Kč 100 per day, on Saturday or Sunday it's Kč 200 Kč per day and a four-day pass is Kč 400. Tickets are available at www.ticketpro.cz or directly at the tournament.
