Prague Lions fight cancer at their next football game

The match against the Pardubice Stallions will also be a day for cancer awareness

You can see an exciting American football match and support the fight against cancer at the same time.

The Prague Lions will host the Pardubice Stallions in a Bitters League showdown on Saturday, May 19, from 2pm. The game is held at Sportovní Centrum Univerzita Karlova in Prague's Hostivař district.

Both teams have recently been in high-scoring games, so there should be some action on the gridiron.

The Lions come into this game 5–1 after beating the Brno Alligators 49-0. The Stallions come into this game 1–4 after a hard fought 34–23 loss to the Ostrava Steelers.

The Lions have dedicated this game to cancer prevention. Joining them at the game will be Loono, Movember Foundation CZ, Liga Proti Rakovine (League Against Cancer), and the Avon Pochod (Avon March).

Loono is a non-profit organization that raises awareness of cancer prevention. Their #prsakoule project hosts workshops to teach women the importance of cancer self-screenings and how to do them.

Movember is a well-known international organization that helps raise awareness and funds and for cancer research. Movember Foundation CZ has raised over Kč 13.1 billion crowns for cancer research. Movember, a mix of the words mustache and November, raises awareness for men's health issues.

Liga Proti Rakovine is perhaps the largest cancer awareness organization in the Czech Republic. They are known for their yellow flowers, which they give out for donations. People can be seen wearing them several times a year. The group will have a doctor on hand at the game to answer any of your questions.

Also at the game, there will be information about the Avon March, which the Lions will be attending this year. The Avon March is a worldwide event that aims to show support for women who suffer from breast cancer and also to help their families.

The Lions will also have a tent set up to talk about their Hope Month Project. During Hope Month, which consists of the weeks leading up to Christmas, the Lions go throughout Prague to collect toys for kids in the cancer ward of Motol Hospital.

In addition to all of this, the Lions will play host to a food festival. Vendors will consist of Lužiny Pivovar, Rustic Jerky, Radek’s Kitchen, Mlska, Vozovna Bistro, and more. There will also be face painting for the kids, and a contest with a prize of free electricity for a year from one of our partners!
