Spend Valentine's Day on ice

There is a special program with skating, music and magic at Letná

The ice skating rink at Letenská pláň is open until Feb. 24 and will have a special program for Valentine's Day on Feb. 14.

Visitors can enjoy activities on and off the ice during Valentine's skating. There will be a performance by figure skating club BK Říčany, a show by magician Richard Nedved and music from the duo Light & Love. The whole event will be moderated by Petr NASTY Cerha.

“We have only less than two weeks left, and I believe that this event will also help us break the record from last year. Skating can be the most romantic beginning of a beautiful Valentine's Day,” Prague City Councilor Vít Šimral said.

The Valentine's Ice Skating Program starts at 5 pm.

The figure skating club BK Říčany mainly works with children. They will present two performances, with pairs skating in themed numbers with costumes and props.

For skaters who want to participate rather than just watch, there is a series of unconventional ice competitions held throughout the afternoon. Contestants will be overseen by a moderator. The competitions will be conceived in such a way that two participating people will have to cooperate in some way.

The musical duo Light & Love was among the greatest discoveries in 2015. Their song “Blueberry Sky” became one of the most popular songs on Czech airwaves. They have a more recent hit with the song “Calling.” Both musicians will be available for autographs.

Stage magician and comedian Richard Nedvěd will put on a show called Trapnomagie.

It is billed as American-style of humor using a combination of magic tricks, fun and gags.

This type of show is unique in the Czech Republic. The performance is mainly based on interaction with the viewer. Before and after his appearance, Nedvěd will be available for autographs.

There will be a photo corner where people can pose with a stylish background and print out photos to take with them or send them via email or social media.

A throwing game suitable for children and adults will have people trying to hit a heart target with a special ball. Successful people can get small prizes.
