American football: Playoff time!

The Prague Lions have finished the regular season with 9 wins, one loss, and the top seed in the Paddock League semifinals.

The Prague Lions rebounded from a tough loss to the Pardubice Stallions by defeating the Usti nad Labem Blades 45:17 in the last game of the regular season.  The scoring was back and forth for most of the first half, but the Lions managed to pull away in the second half.  The last touchdown of the game was a 52 yard touchdown pass to Marek Suchy from Mike Hayes.  That touchdown pass was Hayes’ 39th touchdown pass of the regular season, which surpasses the league record of 38 touchdown passes set by former Prague Lions QB Matt Silva in 2016.

The next game for the Lions will be 5.7 when they host the Vysocina Gladiators in the Paddock League semifinal.  The Lions and the Gladiators have already faced off once this season, back on 18 May, with the Lions coming away with a 48:13 victory.  The Gladiators bring with them a potent offensive attack, ranking in the top half of the league in most statistical categories.  The Lions currently rank first in scoring offense and total offense and second in scoring defense and total defense.

The game will be at 17:00 on Friday, 5 July at the Lions home field, Sportovní centrum Univerzity Karlovy in Hostivař (Bus Stop Gercenova). Tickets are 100 Kč at the field.  In addition to a great football game, there will be a halftime show, as well as great food and beer, and Lions gear for sale.

Take advantage of the holiday and come join us for some playoff football! Check the Prague Lions Facebook page for details and updates!
