All the fun of the fair
Visiting Matějská Pouť
As the daylight hours become longer and the weather gets even better, is there a more fun way to spend your evening than at the fun fair? Well, if you’re looking for one in Prague then you’re in luck! Matějská Pouť is in town until the 21st April. Open from Tuesday to Friday 2pm – 9pm, and on weekends from 10am – 10pm, there’s definitely enough time to visit this year.
Boasting rides from the Czech Republic, Holland and Germany, amongst others, Matějská Pouť, held at the Prague Exhibition Grounds (Prague 7) isn’t one to miss. Whether you’re visiting with friends or with children, there are rides galore for every age group, including rollercoasters, ghost trains and a host of rides which stretch to dizzying heights.
Admission on a weekend costs 25CZK and during the week is a mere 10CZK. The fair itself is easily located, a mere 10 minutes’ walk from Nádraží Holešovice (Metro C), and located in the grounds of the beautiful Prague Exhibition Centre. As well as the rides, there are dozens of stalls selling food of all kinds, sweet treats, and, as to be expected of Prague, lots of beer.
The fair is definitely a summer must-do- but as this one doesn’t run until the summer, you should probably go and take advantage of it now, especially as the weather is so good! Enjoy, and don’t eat too much candyfloss!
