Castles and landmarks to open for free
European Heritage Days makes culture more accessible
European Heritage Days will take place in Czech Republic from Sept. 9 to 17, 2017, and will provide access to historical monuments across the country.
During these days, people will be able to visit hundreds of historical monuments for free or at a reduced price, including some that do not usually have open access to public. Other places will be open at regular admission prices but have extra events.
Prague citizens will have an opportunity to visit the Novomlýnská vodárenská věž, Grabova vila, Libeňský zámek, House at the Golden Ring and many other historical places. More than 700 sites protected by the state are participating in the event this year.
Castles, palaces, churches, museums, and theaters are not the only places to visit. Those who are interested can also have a look at industrial buildings like factories, mills, mines and breweries. A detailed list of all participating Prague sites and their open hours are here: www.historickasidla.cz (CZ)
A big accompanying program is also awaiting all visitors. A number of classical music concerts, unusual excursions, exhibitions, markets and creative competitions will create an unforgettable atmosphere and leave people with pleasant memories.
European Heritage Days has been held in Czech Republic regularly since 1991 in the first half of September. It gives visitors a chance to see a wide range of monuments and get in touch with cultural heritage, which can be hidden from the public throughout the rest of the year.
The opening ceremony will take place in the Czech town of Chrudim on Sept. 8, 2017. Before the solemn ceremony begins, a fire show at Žižkovo náměstí and a classical music concert at the náměstí U Vodárny will make people ready for the great experience of the week.
If you are interested in the events that will take place in the framework of the European Heritage Days, the program for events in all cities of the Czech Republic is available here: www.historickasidla.cz
