Transport company has open door day

Three depots will be open with lots of activities for kids and families

The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) will have an open door day on Sept. 16. Fans of public transportation will be able to see inside the Pankrác tram depot, the Kačerov bus garage and the nearby Kačerov train depot.

The event kicks off at 10 am and lasts to 4 pm. There will also be a program of events for visitors and especially children. The open day is part of the European Mobility Week, which runs from Sept. 16 to 22.

At Depo Kačerov there will be a fleet parade, an exposition of metro technical vehicles, a presentation of in-house transport vehicles, sightseeing tours of the depot, a demonstration of firefighting equipment and other exhibitions.

Children can look forward to making cups with transportation themes, making images under the guidance of an artist, board games, a children's disco, face painting, a bouncy castle, contests with prizes and other activities.

The Kacerov bus garage will show off its bus fleet including the Škoda 706 RTO and newer models. In-house transport vehicles and the control system can be seen, and the garage can be toured

Children can make original T-shirts with transport themes, rides on pedal cars, making models under supervision, use a bouncy castle, play at contests with prizes and other attractions

At all locations each visitor will receive a stamp on a leaflet that they get when entering. Depending on the number of stamps received, each competitor will be rewarded with a small gift.

At Vozovna Pankrác a variety of trams will be on display, not only the modern 15T but also historical trams. There will be technical and emergency vehicles as well. People can take sightseeing tours and see the control systems.

For children there is an intergenerational art workshop, a chance to create paper transport vehicles, photo opportunities, contests with prizes and a children's disco.

The transport to Kačerov depot for the first time in history will be combined with the historical metro trains Ečs and 81-71. These will go directly into Depo Kačerov on a route from Florenc every half hour. The first train leaves as 9.55 am from Florenc and the last connection from the Kačerov depot departs at 3:35 pm.

Regular tram line no. 13 will go to Vozovna Pankrác from the start of daily operation until 4 pm Nostalgic line no. 23 from about 9.30 am to 4 pm will go to the depot on a route starting from Královka. Regular nostalgic cars such as T3SU and T3 and as two historic cars from the Public Transport Museum will be on the line.

A special bus line 931 will be set up between the Kačerov bus garage and the Kačerov metro depot running at five minute intervals from 9.50 am to 16.15 pm.

This event in the past has been very popular with families. Plan to go early so you won't be disappointed that stamp leaflets or other items have run out, or activities are filled up.
