Žluté lázně opens for a new season

Čarodějnice and a concert by František Nedvěd kicks off events for 2018

Žluté lázně is starting a new season on April 30. The waterfront recreation area in the Podolí neighborhood of Prague 4 kicks off 2018 with a kid-friendly Witches Night (Čarodějnice), though this is more of an afternoon event. This is followed by a concert from

František Nedvěd and his band Tiebreak. The kid's day and concert are free.

Aside from special events, Žluté lázně on a daily basis has beach volleyball, the Czech invented game football-tennis (nohejball), petanque and table tennis, along with beach relaxation zones, children's areas, equipment rentals and other facilities.

Standard food options on site include grilled snacks, pizza, fries, waffles, ice cream and other treats. A pub with a terrace called Tančírna is also in the enclosed complex.

Throughout May, the schedule includes several hockey matches from the 2018 IIHF World Championship on big screens, an ice cream festival (May 5), a rum festival (May 19), a concert from the group Monkey Business (May 24) and the start of the outdoor cinema schedule with the film Baby Driver (May 29).

Festivities for Witches Night on April 30 start at 2 pm and culminate at 6 pm with the burning of a three-meter tall bonfire.

František Nedvěd and Tiebreak will perform after 6:30 pm and music will continue until midnight.

During the day there will be face painting, parades, workshops and other events and attractions for kids. The group Divadlo Mazec will put on a show on the stage in the children's corner.

There are numerous competitions where kids of all ages have a chance to win prizes. One involving “flying socks” requires skill and coordination. Other contests involve riddles, songs and jumping over hoops.

The area around Tančírna will turn into a witch-themed fair, offering sweets, costumes, balloons, lights and other things.

Czech singer and guitarist František Nedvěd, now 70 years old, is one of the most important figures in Czech country, folk and tramp songs. Over his carer, he has been with a number of groups including Brontosauři and Spirituál kvintet. He has also performed with his brother Jan as well as his son Vojtěch. He has been performing with Tiebreak since 2013.
