Toyota and Lexus return to Prague's Legendy Motor Show

This year the exhibition of new and historical vehicles will move to Výstaviště

The Legendy Motor Show will take place June 8–10 at Výstaviště in Prague's Holešovice district. For the fifth year of the event there will be over 1,000 exhibits including world championship race cars. Toyota will bring the new Yaris WRC to this event.

Japanese brands Toyota and Lexus return to Legendy after a one-year break and will present current models from most automobile segments as well as historical examples and world motor sports stars.

“The Toyota and Lexus brands return to the Legendy after a break, and I am very glad for it. What I am more pleased with, however, is the variety and the overall scope that both brands will bring to visitors of this year's fifth edition of Legendy. I think the Japanese carmaker's presentations this year just reflect its position as a leader in the world's automotive industry,” Lubor Kos, director of Legendy, said in a press release. Lexus is the luxury division of Toyota.

The motor show's motto this year is: “Elegance. Style. Passion. Inspiration.”

World Rally Car automotive enthusiasts will want to see the Toyota Yaris WRC. At the recent YPF Rally Argentina 2018 held in April, Estonian rally drivers Ott Tänk and Martin Järveoja won the race in the new model. They were driving for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, the carmaker's rally team.

The Yaris WRC has a supercharged, 1.6-liter, straight-line four-cylinder petrol engine with an output of over 380 hp. The all-wheel drive car has a six-speed sequential hydraulic transmission and reaches a maximum speed of over 200 km / h.

Toyota returned to the World Rally Championship last year after withdrawing from the championship at the end of the 1999 season to focus on their Le Mans Prototype and Formula One programs. Up until 1999, the team used the Toyota Corolla WRC. The Yaris WRC is a new chapter in Toyota's long history in the world of motorsport.

This season's drivers are Jari-Matti Latvala, Ott Tänak and Esapek Lappi, and the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT team leader is Tommi Mäkinena.

Toyota is also the world leader in fully hybrid drive technology, and Legendy will focus on the presentation of Toyota and Lexus brands in this area. Both brands together will present 11 cars with this type of drive. These will include the complete historical series of all generations of the Toyota Prius model.

A wide portfolio will be presented in several thematic pavilions at Výstaviště. It the Future Pavilion, visitors will be able to see the Toyota Mirai, the first standard-produced hydrogen fuel cell car. The extravagant Lexus LC 500h sedan will be in the Elegance Pavilion.

The show will also include the Toyota Hilux and Land Cruiser in the off-road section. Kolín. Central Bohemia-based carmaker TPCA plant will be represented by the Toyota Aygo, and history lovers will delight in the Toyota Corolla GT (1982), Toyota Celica Supra (1982) and Toyota MR2 (1986).
