Legendy car show returns to Bohnice

The biggest show of its type in the Czech Republic has 1,000 exhibits

The car show Legendy will be back for the fourth time at the grounds of the Psychiatric Hospital in Bohnice from June 10 to 11. It is the largest show of its kind in the Czech Republic.

Organizers expect more than 35,000 visitors to the 64 hectare site to see over 1,000 vehicles and motorcycles from the past and present.

Carmakers and collectors both will be offering a larger program for families and more unique exhibits than in the past. The total value of all of the cars on display is over Kč 1 billion, but looking is significantly cheaper than buying, so fear not.

One of the themes will be Italian design. Lamborghini, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Pagani will all be exhibiting luxury cars. The Pagani Huayra supercar with a supercharged V12 engine costs €1.5 million, and only 100 units will ever be made. The show will have car number 51.

The Lamborghini Centario is even rarer, with just 40 units made. It has a 770 horsepower engine.

By comparison, the Ferrari F12tdf seems to be commonplace, with a limited edition of 799. The tdf refers to the Tour de France, but for trademark reasons the carmaker can't use the full name. Reviewers pointed out the powerful car's agility on the roads.

And while they are truly magnificent examples of design, they have some competition. The brand AMG, the high performance division of Mercedes-Benz, will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. The brand will be exhibiting its GT R and GT C models. The GT R is new this year, and GTC made its debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

Local brands won't be ignored either. Škoda will show its Octavia RS 245 and two new versions of the Kodiaq. The mos powerful Octavia so far made its debut in Geneva in March. The Kodiaq is a new SUV line that was introduced in 2016.

Volkswagen and Ford will also be showing off new models, while Subaru will have a retrospective of its Forester line, which celebrates its 20th year.

Aside from cars, there will be some famous racing personalities such as Jan Černý and Petr Žáček, plus other stars from the past and present.

There will be some races and other competitions as well throughout the two days of the car show, so overall the organizers hope there will be something for the entire family. They recommend planning to spend around six hours to see everything.
